Serious question, for the people that wanted to ride out Sid, Malkin and Letang.
I said it before but would you still be willing to watch this for 2-4 more years? Having more then likely watched there last playoff game ever 2 years ago?

I watched the penguins when Richard Tarnstrom was the leading scorer.

Yes, pretty much everyone knows what they are signing up for. Those ugly years are coming regardless.

I would much rather watch the 3 guys that gave me so many good memories ride out there careers where they want to be. They've earned that. As well as us doing our best to help them compete. FSG has deep pockets NHL-wealth wise and the off the ice revenue they make at PPG Paints is more than enough for them to spend to the cap.

As long as those guys are here, invest the money into the team and try to build a winner. We arent winning a Cup, but imagine we make the playoffs and win a round? Otherwise, our last playoff series win would forever be remembered as 2018.

Where the win-o-metre?

Nah, didn't even look at that. Haven't in months haha. Just saying I think everyone's heads are in the gutter running with media narratives. Lose a game 4-0 and it's all confirmed. However, they had a lot more quality chances than the Oil did today. People seem more concerned with watching Sid's facial expressions, or what this one or that one is saying, honing in on a few bad giveaways then seeing it as a whole.

Well. Stats lie a lot. Can always trust the eye test though. Or in my case today. The ear test.

Am I the only one that had no idea if you pulled your goalie in OT (not for delayed penalties) and gave up an ENG, you surrendered the 1 point you had earned?

Minnesota pulled their goalie in OT to win against Nashville and they were saying it was a big risk.

Any time the Penguins make overtime, keep tanking and pull the goalie.

What am I missing here guys?...statistically the Pens were the better team today at 5 on 5. I didnt see any giving up. As usual finishing was the problem at ES and execution and finishing the problem on PP. Some airhead blunders stuck out, for sure...but they stick out even more so when losing a lot. I saw Oilers make blunders too... Doesn't matter for them though because they won.

For me it's not getting enough traffic in front of the goalie. Not getting to rebounds or fighting for loose pucks in and around the crease. Basically, not winning the battles in front of their net.

One example from the game today, Brian Rust took off around their defense and headed straight to the net with the puck. He bumped Pickard and I said to myself, haven't seen anything like that in a long time from this team. I found it quite amusing that concussion protocol forced Pickard to leave the game due to his soccer imitation.

Defensively this is the best they've played in years. Goaltending has been top ten all year, top five for part of it.

One statistic that points out to me that this team has tuned Sullivan out is blocked shots. During his tenure the Pens have always been mid pack and better in the category. This season we are 28th.

I went to 25 games that year. They might of won 8.

I've watched them rebuild twice, in the early 2000's, like everyone else here and in the mid 1980's. Then they went from within a bad bounce of upsetting the Islanders dynasty to a 34 pt season almost overnight.

The 'big three' can and will do what's best for themselves. More power to them. Me, I'd much rather watch young guys play this game and lose than thirty somethings give halfhearted efforts, win the statistical battle and lose, nonetheless.

The tickets were certainly a lot cheaper . I remember MM calling Jamie Pushor and Hans Jonsson "The Hand Grenade Brothers", because of their puck handling. I started watching the Pens regularly in 1989 and those were definitely the worst years.

I definitely think it was a big mistake for Dubas to have not even tried to sign Jake, and trade him to a divisional team no less (which gives them the inside track to resign him). Basically it expedites the decline of the team at a time when Dubas has few of the pieces in place for a rebuild, and probably did not get any back in the trade.

I said at the end of last year, I'd give it one more shot (this year) and then I'd be open to trading anyone. The end of successful era's are always ugly. I have no problem if Sid wants to chase a cup elsewhere. Watching great players decline isn't fun to me. After we do that for a few more years, it will be 3+ years of pain to follow. Pass on that.

It's probably out of Dubas's hands anyway. If Sid wants to stay, you give him a contract and continue down this path. If he wants to leave, you start the rebuild now.

Malkin should have been gone long ago. I’d rather watch Sid and Letang compete than just skate around in Penguin jerseys.

We are an entitled fan base. I am definitely guilty of that myself. Many think that as long as Sid is on the roster, winning should be automatic. Yes, things could and should have gone better over the last 7 years, but we are where we are now.

3 Cups during the Sid, Geno, and Tanger era is pretty freaking awesome! Mario, Jagr, Francis, Stevens, Murphy, Trottier, Tocchett, Barrasso, and co. were beasts but only managed 2. We are talking about a roster with 6 Hall of Famers! Just take a look at the names on the '91-92 rosters.

Ask any other fan of any other franchise and they would be thrilled with this result. We are just spoiled.

It's always sad to watch this, and it might not happen again for a very very very long time but the 5 Cups (+2 back-to-backs) that I've seen make the down years tolerable.

The Mighty Penguin will waddle again!

I was living in DC during the early 2000s; the tickets to the Caps game were definitely cheaper (because the Caps were sucking so much back then). But I always remember paying unreal cheap price to sit a few rows off the glass to watch the Penguins come to town and own the Caps. Good times!

Yeah, that was a bad year.

But a year before that was Mario, AK27, Straka, Hrdina, Big Steve McKenna (sarcastically) and Moose Hedberg in goal (with Seabass as backup)

Count me in the group who'd like to see them moved at the next deadline

Letang to Vancouver, Sid to Colorado, Malkin to ??

I can cheer for them as they compete for cups on other teams

This is pathetic

Broadcast said that Kyle Dubas drove to Guentzels house to let him know about everything before anyone knew. Damnit, Kyle. Make it easier to hate you please.

Also, bunting looks shot out of a cannon.

He's always been a player first kind of GM. Respects them. If he thinks he can't find a role on the team will trade them

I’d trust me listening to games over anyone who feels they need to google fancy stats to understand the game of hockey any day.

Honestly this is on Sid, Letang and Geno. Not real impressed with how they are going about business. They are still getting payed a fvck ton of money to play a fun game for a living. The pouty faced BS needs to stop. Especially from Sid. If you’re upset go fight someone, or challenge the guys in your lineup to at least make the game uncomfortable for the other team. Someone take a run at Mcdavid. Show some pride.

Yeah, I don't know of anyone around here that needs to do that. However, it can help seperate facts from emotions and biasis for some. Personally, I watched the game then looked at stats. Most of the Pens heads are shot now. I see a team that still wants to win, and are trying, but with loss of confidence and attention to detail.

No desperation. If this is about Jake then these guys need to grow up. Especially Sid.

Yeah, I can agree with that statement and it kind of aligns with what MadMike was saying about their shot blocking being close to dead last this season when they were usually in the top 3rd of the league for years.

I’m sure it’s bitter sweet for him. He’ll be such a good fit for you guys.

What’s your take on the Finn we got back in the trade? Definitely the most interesting piece of this trade for me

- Victoro311

Koivunen has good skill but makes his living with his brain. Real smart player. Problem is his footwork isn't great. He's not all that fast and struggled with the speed at the AHL level.

Best case scenario you have a legit 50~ point top 6 winger.

Worst case scenario you have Victor Rask.
