I didn’t see the game only the repay. What did Torts do to get ejected? I saw the replay with him yelling that “ I’m not going” but what did he do to be ejected?
Is this referee the Joe West of hockey?

Just forget about that game. On top of us not showing up in the first, the refs were terrible. I always say that you have to play though that but 3 of the calls and the quick trigger on tossing torts were absurd calls that could let a game get out of control. The refs made themselves the story and were so screwed up they announced a penalty on the wrong team ffs.

I know there are lots of torts haters here and there’s lots I don’t like about him but in the instance last night, I was perfectly fine with him calling out the refs. They had no thick skin and tossed him very quickly. I’d expect any coach we have to stand up to the refs and for his team in a situation like this.

I wonder how torts feels about all the 04 team players in the box having a beer and laughing at him. Not very classy act towards a guy who led you to a cup . Wes McCauley is a turd.

Finally. Wanted to add that I’d love to know how the team f ed up the d situation and sent a guy down while on the road meaning we had 5 d which comprised of 1 rookie, another guy playing his first game as a flyer while already shorthanded. Holy screwup guys.

The Flyers have had, and currently have, the worst management group in all of sports, but they can't be that stupid (it wreaks if Fletcher). I'm pretty sure it had to do with getting players on the Phantoms roster for playoff consideration (which is really a joke in and of itself)

It had to do with the emergency call up rules in my opinion for the most part. Once they acquired Erik Johnson. They had to send Ginning back down.

Flyers play the Devils, Caps, and Islanders one more time each. All 3 are home games.

I know Tippett came back, but any update on him? His block shot looked eerily similar to Seeler.

That young turd ref was in over his head. He announced the wrong team for the tripping penalty that was a phantom penalty anyway. Then he overreacted to Torts telling him to phuck off! Then big brother Wes doubled down and made things worse. Torts should have held his ground until security came to remove him from the bench area! Now that would have been a classic. Either that are start throwing equipment all over the ice like Lavy did years ago. I hate when refs try to make it about them.

I know it was a tough situation with only 5 defenseman, but why not put Deslauriers on defense and play Brink? Deslauriers has experience playing defense, it would have been better than nothing.

Getting two points on a trip to Florida and TB is the best you can hope for. Those games happen. With the schedule they have, makes Tuesday's game at home against the worst team in the League a must win.

I think the Penguins and Devils are dead. Detroit is slumping 4 losses in a row. So even if the Islanders pass them they can still get a wild card.

- PLindbergh31

Agreed. I think the Islanders may temporarily pass the Flyers but looking at the remaining games and the fact that I think the Flyers are a better team, I think the Flyers will win out in the end.

Whatcha think of Torts initial refusal to leave the bench

Sticking up for your guys is one thing. He did a great job of that. That refusal will likely cost him a few nice dinners on the town.

- Hesh_

I wish he had thrown a few things on the ice to be honest, McCauley deserved it IMO. What a tool he is!

Yes but we also play a slew of games vs bruins and leafs who we can’t handle. I expect the isles to pass us soon. They’ve got Anaheim tonight. I thought they had a tougher sched jnially but looks like we do for the next bit

Looked to me like Tortorella gave up on the game and team and chose to have a tantrum rather than do his job and coach.

This is going to sound like I’m taking a shot but not only did I not get this feel, I don’t understand how anyone could come to this conclusion. Torts refused to leave. Giving up on the team would have been walking out and walking out long before there was a tantrum. Long before there was a penalty given to him.

Get Couturier a back transplant
Trade Frost asap
Don't give Johansen a shot
Start giving Deslauriers center reps at practice

No worries. Just sounds like you're disagreeing with me. I'm not offended by that. I'm OK with him getting mad at the refs and screaming at them. All coaches do it. He just went too far, after he got the penalty, refusing to leave. We all knew he was going to leave. Carrying on like he did just seemed to me like he was trying to get tossed. I guess maybe you could look at it like he was trying to get the team fired up maybe? IDK. Seemed like he wanted out to me. His former Lightning players seemed to find it pretty laughable too.

I want Torts to talk about it. I don’t want to hear “we have to turn the page” or “No comment”.

Let’s not kid ourselves, the Flyers have won recent games they should have lost. Florida twice and Tampa a week ago. This game was never going to go our way. With this in mind, Tampa doesn’t need help. The Attard penalties and the Hathaway misconduct were both extreme. Throwing out Torts was no different.
