The Flyers have shown that if they're on their game, they can be competitive with almost any team. With that being said, Toronto is a significantly better team and they're one of the top offensive teams in the league. They're vulnerable defensively though. Marner is day to day with an injury. I will call you crazy. No team should be taken lightly and no points in the standings should be taken for granted. The Flyers just got shellacked by a good offensive team. - MJL Marner is out for Thursday's game with a sprained ankle.

I wonder if the Flyers fall to that last wild card spot and Florida ends up first in the east. The Cats are 18-3 in their last 21 games and 2 of those losses were to the Flyers. Hmmm... |

I love spite. According to Elliotte Friedman on his 32 Thoughts podcast, the Flyers waived Ryan Johansen in part because of his history with Torts and also because his agent represents Cutter Gauthier:

Here's an article from MSN saying the same thing. It also mentions there may have been an attempt to reconcile. |

Sounds more like speculation to me.
"There's some hard feelings there just in general because Johansen is represented by Kurt Overhardt," Friedman said. "People wonder how much that plays into all of this."

I am a Torts supporter and I have to agree with this - Gueranov should have been sent to the Phantoms to at least learn our systems. He looked lost out there. Bring him up if there's an injury or whatever, but inserting a bubble player right away is questionable when we're supposed to be "playing the kids". But I guess Briere wanted him in there. Hope this doesn't mean a demotion for Brink. He should not have to be supplanted on the depth chart for this acquisition, is a reclamation project at best. - BluehorseShoe64
Well from the Flyers perspective at 26/27 yo he is a kid.... |

Couldn't they have sent down a forward? - mickel25
Couldn't they have "sent Ginning down" on paper and kept him near the team. As it stands, I do not believe he played for the Phantoms either. Christ, if Vegas can figure out how to be $10MM over the cap, surely Briere and Jones can figure out how to field a basic hockey team. what a I missing here? |

No, no I am not.
I can't support a coach who made a fool out of himself on live tv. That doesn't make me wrong...it means I have morals and ethics about how people should act and how they shouldn't.
His behavior was childish and embarrassing. End of story. - TheFreak
I am a Tortorella hater. I mean I absolutely loathe him, his hockey philosophies, his arrogance especially with the press, how he handles youth and coddles vet-trans especially ones devoid of talent. For time last summer my favorite "person" was the horse that kicked him. I would like nothing more than for him to come across as the buffoon he is. However, his actions in Tampa are anything but embarrassing. He was showing up a ref who was obviously having a bad night. Unfortunately, his actions may have elevated him rock star/batman status.... |

Ginning was recalled when he first came up on emergency recall. Once the Flyers acquired Erik Johnson, that gave the Flyers 6 healthy defenseman other than Ginning with Attard being a regular call up. By rule, once they had 6, Ginning had to be returned to the Phantoms. Zamula got sick the day of the game. Not enough time to get a player recalled.

Well from the Flyers perspective at 26/27 yo he is a kid.... - mr4tno It wouldn't make no sense to send the guy down to learn the systems cause they don't play the same systems. I mean, I think it's stupid that you don't play the same systems at both the AHL and NHL level, but that's the case here. That probably needs to change going forward, but Torts gonna Torts. |

It’s beyond me why they stuck to getting a 1st with the price being taking on Johansen if they had no intent to use him. I’m guessing the Avs thought he was cooked and were happy to get rid of him. He wasn’t good enough for the Avs PP but I think the Flyers should have tried him there.

Meanwhile they acquire Gurianov, who has been a complete bust to this point. They throw him right in the lineup. Briere says he's excited to get him.

It’s a weird situation. Ryan Johansen should absolutely be playing for the Flyers. The PP can’t get any worse. |

I don’t want to compare Gurianov and Nichushkin. But it’s interesting to me that Dallas had both and were patient with development and neither developed there.

Yeah, it may not workout but they have nothing to lose. He had 63 points in 2022 with many of those coming on the PP. His shooting % that year was 22% which isn’t sustainable but it makes sense to use him in the regular season to get a bump. Maybe you can’t use him in the playoffs though.

I haven’t watched him since he left Dallas and I guess he wasn’t a fit after that but hey.

You saw the headline but didn't actually read the article did you? Because if you did you have clearly read this:
"I heard the Flyers were willing to have the conversation. Then came word that Johansen was battling something. So now that is now all on hold," Friedman said.
In this entire article Friedman clearly states he is speculating, he has no hard facts. What do you think this player might be battling? I don't think it needs to be spelled out.

Gonna be hard to hold them off with this schedule that the Flyers have and their injuries. Need the two points tonight needless to say. The Wings have fallen off. Perhaps the Flyguys nab that last wild card spot and get the Cats in the first round. |
