Thats crazy....is Graves lumped in with that at all? I know he was put on 3rd pair for stints in the season. He is the one that by all means they should try and dump...for anything at all haha, not Ek. - MattStrat
Graves is a +1 at 5v5.

I would rather have this:
Jake Guentzel: age:29-TBD by another team.
games goals assists point +/- pims
503 219 247 466 53 224
Then this:
Erik Karlsson: age:33-...(10) mil for the next 3 years
games goals assists points +/- pims
980 186 618 804 -96 454
Sid would be happy and on top of that Guenstzel is a proven goal scorer and alot of teams apparently wanted him. Apparently not the penguins nor the some of the pittsburgh fans.
That 10 Million for the next few years on 1 player and a dmen is killing the bottom 6. EK has 8 goals this season 8 goals. We just lost a goal scoring machine that plays with sid on the top line for a 2nd line pairing dmen with 8 goals at 10 mil FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS.. Why can't you understand this? - jb55
they didn't trade Guentzel because they acquired Karlsson lol

Oh and you've mentioned the PP isn't good because of injuries and that's killing this team. Your right, somewhat but why isn't EK scoring goals on the PP at 10 mil a year? What has he done to help this team? 8 goals? 10 mil man...I can't stress this enough. Where is this PP phenom dmen that dubas picked up? - jb55
Why would he score goals on the PP? He's the PP QB, and has never scored more than 6 PP goals a season. Last season he had 5. This year he has 2.

On Twitter that Jesse Marshall just noticed that the Pens were stretched too thin in their breakout. IMO it's been happening all year.
Sully's system requires fast skating and now that we're a slower team our forwards have to cheat to make it work by flying the zone early.
On top of that we have 2, maybe 3 D men capable of making a 40' pass through traffic and about 5 forwards that are able to accept a pass like that in motion. Hence the icings and bad turnovers on our blueline or neutral zone.
If the D has no passing options, and has the space to skate it out he's eventually met with resistance in the neutral zone and dumps it in. Only problem with that is the forwards that flew the zone are now up against the B line with no speed to retrieve the D's dump in.
Icings or turnovers are the usual result.
This system needs replacing and Sully seems very reluctant to do so. |

They'll probably just call up Ryan Shea and have an extra defenseman instead of an extra forward. Then they'll only have one non emergency recall left all year. |

what's crazy is he actually showed changes to his system earlier in the season, and then they just regressed to the old system and it completely disappeared.
Coach not hcanging or players not listening? Who knows.

It'd be nice to play some of the younger guys just to see what they have. We know what we have with Acciari, Neito, Carter, etc. Although I'm not sure if they have any callups left, I thought I saw on twitter somewhere they've used all their transactions but I'm not sure. I wouldn't want to necessarily tank, but this season is all but over -- if possible, they should be using it to evaluate AHL players to see what comes from next year. - j.boyd919
Yea I actually wanted to see Blomqvist get some starts. Idk what else we have, can we see Yager without ruining a year of his rookie contract? Not even sure if his junior team is done or not yet. |

Yea Sully just needs to go, I don't think he's bad but he'd be better suited on a younger, faster team. |

You see glimpses those changes but I agree it's been mostly forgotten.
I just can't understand the breakout. It's a recipe for turnovers in all 3 zones. Especially now with the GAF meter at an all time low. |

He's at least skating. Once Rust returned it just made sense to add a defenseman. Not sure it made sense to both add Gruden for 1-2 games over Shea and send Puustinen up and down to play in the AHL playoffs and basically use 3 of 4 waiver recalls in the first week. |

Wasn't just Karlsson. Dubas locked up Graves, Smith, Eller, Acciari, Jarry. Most of those moves have backfired. Dubas is one of the dumbest minds in the game. Destroyed the Leafs and now the Pens. Love it. - HockeyBuzzed
Good thing the Oilers and their management are still around to keep Dubas as only "one of" the dumbest minds and not the dumbest.

Kuzy's been super highly motivated. He'd have 5 points for the Canes already if anybody had been ready for his passes. |

Except Sid would still get Jake, not Kuz. Now, Kuz with Geno on his wing or vice versa? That may have been something that worked.

they should probably wait on Yager and just bring him into camp next year. Should probably just get him ready for NHL action and let him learn on the fly. Find a good 2-way LW to play with Eller and Stick him on 3RW.

Why would he score goals on the PP? He's the PP QB, and has never scored more than 6 PP goals a season. Last season he had 5. This year he has 2. - j.boyd919
Why did dubas get EK then for 10 mil for next 3 years or whatever? I would rather have matheson at least he hits and sticks up for teammates and alot cheaper.
