they should probably wait on Yager and just bring him into camp next year. Should probably just get him ready for NHL action and let him learn on the fly. Find a good 2-way LW to play with Eller and Stick him on 3RW.

Neither, its because Dubas himself stated he wanted to go with youth from THIS point, and that doesn't include our core/generational players. He's gonna try and trade Smith to go younger at forward as well. That's basically it, it's being made way to complicated when Dubas himself said what he said. Obviously he changed his mind from the beginning of this season.

I'd put jake as a core player more so than EK? especieally if he's on sids line and been here longer.

Both Dubas and the beat have explicitly stated they didn’t want to lock up another 30 year old forward.

If the Pens were in the playoffs that would have stopped mattering and he’d be resigned right now

Dubas himself said he made the choice to go in a different direction. I don't agree with it either, but it has nothing to do with Karlsson taking up too much cap space.
