Oh i hear ya and right there with you too. I can hope though not sure they are there yet or have what they need in place. We shall see but could be worse. Could be back in a position like Chicago.

Take it as it comes. I still think need to look at Keefe but...🤷‍♂️

- Roadrunner75

I don’t mind Keefe but I’ll be shocked if he gets to keep his job if the leafs disappear early. What “early” is these days seem to vary between people as well lol.

Yikes. Thanks for trading our draft picks Dubas.
Gifted with Matthews, Nylander and Marner, he pissed it all away.
Good luck ruining another franchise Dubes

That's the story. Dubas gave away all of that draft capital and not many of those players stayed with the Leafs. I'm glad he's gone and for those that thought of him as brilliant, he sure had them snowed under. Unfortunately, it probably means that one of Marner or Nylander will have to be traded to firm up the rest of the team. With little draft capital for 3 years and so up against the cap, they haven't got many options.

This is wishful thinking.
I doubt they will move them unless it's towards the end of their new contracts.
I know Marner's contract coming up soon. His NMC says it all.

If I had a choice, I'd move Nylander over Marner. Unfortunately for Marner, his contract ends a year from now. He'd probably be the one to be moved. The only other possibility is a coaching change that would make it uncomfortable for a free spirit like Nylander to cope. He might want to leave, if the heat was turned up on him. I know many on here would like to keep them all, but the insanity of it all, is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. The Leafs are kind of going to be what they are until their 3 main assets start to lose their top end skill as they get older. All 3 are at their very top of their careers and it's being wasted by bad management and inability to build around them in their most productive years.

I also doubt it. they will sign marner for 13mil or something like that.

but if they flamed out again this playoffs, and for me its pretty much a conference finals or finals appearance, id trade Marner for brady tkachuk type. Both teams need a shakeup at that point.

the extra 4-5 mil saved could add another good player

Now that's in the realm of which can be done.

With JT coming off the books after next season, cap space will open up.

No fan base poops on and dissects (negatively) their team more than Leafs fans - it’s why for the life of me I can’t understand why other fan bases feel the need to chirp the Leafs. You folks do that enough already. It’s weird and makes them just look like they have some odd inferiority complex or jealousy who knows.

You don't. Nylander does. He's not leaving till he wants to leave.

Marner at $13M is probably where he lands, anything less than that is awesome. It won't be that much of an issue as long as the cap keeps going up. We have the core four for one more year, then we have the core 3 for LONG after that, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

That and it’s going to start rising notably. By the time Marner’s next contract starts up the cap will up over $90 million.

Yes the cap has barely moved the last few years due to Covid. That is a very very very notable thing that’s about to change. Back to roughly 5% increases each year. The cap will be around $92 million by the time Marner’s next contract even kicks in.
