The closest Canucks have to that type of player is Miller and he is nowhere near as good.
Canucks not the only team to overpay tier 2 and tier 3 players. - VANTEL
I think 100% of the teams overpay players at some point, but if you're referring to Pettersson, he's not overpaid, his new contract will look great in a few years when an 11.6 million cap hit will be the same as an 8.5 million dollar cap hit five years ago. #longgame |

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Myself, I can see the end of his contract being much like Naslund's. He will probably want out of here because of the pressure of the fan base. I also think there will be a good percentage of fans wanting to move his contract off the books.

Where do you come up with these conspiracy theories?
Eight years ago the highest top ten cap hits were 6.0 million to 7.425 million, today they are 10.5 million to 12.6 million. If you project eight years ahead the top ten will probably be 17 to 21 million a year cap hit, so his cap will be way below average at the end of his deal and he'll be 33 years old. The timing of the deal couldn't be any more perfect in terms of dollars to production and age. |

It's JT Millers 31st birthday, damn he's getting old, they should look at getting rid of him before his contract becomes a problem!! (sarcasm)

Conspiracy theories
I could ask you the same about where you get your numbers from. He did great with his points on the first half of the year when they played softer teams and they were flying under the radar.
Tough part of the schedule lies ahead and his numbers have dropped. Like I said you can like the contract, I am siding with Rueby that he is a 9.5 mil player not 11.8.

It's well documented that EP40 has a higher points percentage against the top teams, playoff teams, than the lower half teams. But you keep spewing your nonsense. |

In the last few games against Col Bos Wpg VGK LA I think he was held off the scoreboard 3 of the 5 games. One game he got a point as Rueby pointed out that should have went to Mik but EP was credited for a second assist where he had absolutely nothing to do with the play. So I see it 4 of the 5 games. I don't really care enough to look it up because I know one of you guzzlers will do it for me.

Oilers are a better team than us but that doesn't mean they are going deep in the PO's this year either. maybe next year. This current Canucks roster is having a great reg season but we got a taste of how PO's are gonna go last light blowing a 3-0 lead vs a very tired Avs club on a back to backer. Demko back healthy will help but it won't be enough. Just reality dude. - LordHumungous

This was written about a month ago, it's about stats, and I acknowledge Pettersson has cooled off lately, however, he does have 5 points in the Canucks past seven games while being +3, averaging 18:43 in ice-time and also being 54.82% on faceoffs.
" As for individual performances, Pettersson leads the way against the top-ten teams in the NHL, averaging 1.43 points per game. In fact, Pettersson has scored at a higher rate against the top-ten teams in the NHL than he has against the bottom-ten teams. That holds true even when removing the games against the Oilers from the equation."

Again, I don't know where you get your information from, but it's not planet earth. In the past four games against the top teams, Pettersson has two goals and two assists. The only team he didn't score against was Colorado, last night. He was also +4 over those four games and 57.05% on the faceoffs. He didn't play well last night.
March 13th Colorado - 0 points (-1)
March 9th Winnipeg - goal & assist (+2)
March 7th Vegas - assist (+1)
March 5th LA Kings - goal (+2) |

How about that Hyman contract? Thirty six goals last year forty six so far this year. Not to shabby for five point five mil. That other fella also Draisaitl is not too shabby either.
Now they are two contracts that I think will look good in years to come. |

Also, against Boston on Feb 24th Pettersson had an assist, he was +1, averaged 18:59 in ice-time and was 61.5% on the faceoffs. |

I told you a guzzler would look it up.
That VGK assist was bogus. Anyways you Guardians always running to his rescue, said last month he was going to be a back to back 100 pt player. Today he is on pace for 97 pts. I think by he end of the year he will hit 94. |

Draisaitl's contract ends after next season, he signed that out of his entry level deal and everyone thought the Oilers were crazy. Much like you think the Canucks and EP40's contract is crazy.
Kucherov won the Art Ross, Hart and Lindsay in 2019 with 128 points with a cap hit of $4,766,667 - now that's a great contract!!! |

I'm just giving you factual information, something that clearly alludes you. I get it, you don't like the player, which is fine, but you come up with the dumbest arguments and are proven wrong regularly. Which I find comical.
94 points, top 10 in NHL scoring....my goodness, what a bum!! |

@patersonjeff
“In 18 games since #NHL All Star break, #Canucks PP is 8 for 52 (15.4%) and 29th in league by ranking ahead of NJD, PHI & CBJ. Has also allowed 3 SHG. So net +5 over that stretch. Only multi-PPG game was in Carolina in first game out of break”
Now this a real issue!!! |

See this is what makes me laugh about you idiots. I have never once said I don't like the player. I don't like the contract. I in fact have said multiple times I do like the player. I really don't like how much Canucks are paying him next year but that is something totally different.
So if you want to discuss the subject about getting the facts right, you may want to try getting yours right once in a while.
