Sandstorm didn't get a piece of the Heinen goal. It beat him clean and went off the far side crossbar and down into the net.
Sandstorm was completely under siege in that early part of the 3rd period. On a number of the goal sequences, he made quality saves first before a goal was scored. Goalies much better than him have been beaten in those situations. With the porous defense played by the Flyers, the Bruins could've easily had 8 or 9 goals on the game. Sandstrom kept them in the game. Especially in the 2nd period. Blaming Sandstrom is just not accurate in my opinion. I blame the ridiculously bad team defense in front of him.

There was nothing condescending in my tone in my post. Don't be an ignorant ass.

Couturier has been AWOL since Totorella ran him into the ground with excessive TOI. This is why you need to assess the viability of playing well for 82 games. The Flyers do not have the horses to do this and should have been selling since October. Nothing is "owed to the room"....

Couturier last night did something no other player has been able to do all season. Set up Deslauriers for a goal!

I agree, nothing is owed to the room. They owe it to the fans to do the right thing and do what needs to be done to build a contender. The problem is the fans are part of the problem.

If there’s something wrong with him sit him. I can’t make any sense in what Tortorella is doing with him. Makes you wonder if he opposed making Coots captain and is now trying to undermine it.

There seems to be a problem here.
Staal and Johnson?
Seeler & Drysdale out?
Goaltending?
Bad back checking by forwards?

If it’s the young guys in Attard, Zemula, and York, well they need to learn and playing is the only way the Flyers can evaluate what they have there. York and Zemula have grown this year and are now getting a taste of playing elite talents when the games are under a microscope. Same can be said for our two young goalies.

We all want the playoffs badly. I know I do. But if they don’t make the playoffs it’s ok. Disappointing but ok. It’s been a fun year for a change and there are pieces that help to have faith in the future. Tippett, Foerester, Brink, Farabee, And even Gurianov need playing ice time for the same evaluation.

Next logical step is a good draft. Don’t get stupid in free agency. Don’t resign Johnson and Staal. As much as it hurts, trade Laughton, try to trade Coots & Risto. Think very hard about TK and if there is an offer that puts the Flyers on a path for legitimate contenders beginning in the next 3 years, you take it. Target prospects and draft assets that give the best chance at getting a future 1C and a top pairing big D (hard defensive big body with some offensive upside) to pair with CY or JD.

Let Bonk & company develop and DO NOT RUSH THEM.

That is all for my morning rant.

Well written but the main question I have is does anyone think for a second that this team is going to take major steps or go backwards? The Flyers always take steps to err on the side of caution. Which is why they always sign vets like Hathaway and Staal. If the Flyers falter this year because of defense. They will be reactionary and make a over to avoid that. The Flyers wanted to re-sign Walker but at the right price. That they decided that his price was too high and they moved on, offers some encouragement. However I think they're going to have sellers remorse and rectify that in the off season.

All these qualified GM’s in here. Everyone in office is the problem. The coaching staff is the problem. The fans enjoying meaningful hockey in Match is the problem. The guys in here telling anyone how management should run a team is an equivalent of a teen seeing his first boob and then claiming they’re Hugh Hefner. Like, can you guys let us enjoy the season, please and thank you? There is plenty of time to sell.

It is high time to sell Laughton over the summer- over.due actually. The mystique of Laughton being an intrical part of building culture will only diminish going forward.

Frost-Coots-Poehling is a decent start at center. Need another high skill center to add to the mix.

I was able to see the behind the net angle on the Heinen goal. Sandstrom did not get a piece of it as it went between his shoulder and his glove and under the crossbar about 5 inches in from the post. It would have been a nice save, but not impossible, and one the team needed.

Was the loss Sandstrom's fault? Obviously, not. But, thanks to Beecher hitting the post on his initial shot, he did have an opportunity on all four third period goals. I was overly frustrated with them not getting a point out of the game. Of course, if he makes one of those saves there's no guarantee the Flyers score five goals, so that frustration was silly.

That frustration led me to a possibly incorrect inference regarding your inclusion of the self evident phrase of "a goalie can only do so much."

I have never been called an ignorant ass. Arrogant ass, perhaps, but certainly not ignorant.

Good day and everyone, just be yourself.

There was an avalanche of grade A high level chances both in the 2nd period and the 3rd period. The Bruins could've hit double digits in goals that game, that's how glorious the chances were. Sandstrom got little help from the team defense in front of him. I think stating the goalie can only do so much was apropos. No problem on the misunderstanding.

Go Pens, I just threw up in my mouth. Need pens and Rangers.

With this D, just nothing you can do, 2nd pair is a joke. I do like the way they came back last night, I like them getting a taste of what it is like to play games that mean a lot. I like Torts actually let Frost play and the young kids play down in the 3rd last night. Get Seeler and RR or at least one of them back and maybe they have a shot to make the playoffs. You went from Seeler and Walker to Staal and Johnson, nough said.

IMO, the team is playing second and fourth string goaltenders and mostly third string defense. I would not expect them to be successful with this back end combination. Believe it or not, but loss of Hart, walker. Seeler , even Risto is palpable.

It's between the Flyers, Isles, Caps and Red Wings for two spots. With only the wild card spot available to the Red Wings.
