Staal with a robust 9 minutes of ice time. Might be time to give Ginning a look, then try to ride York 27 minutes n basically skate with 5 Dmen. - Trox88
To me Attard was the worst tonight, Sanheim was a close second, Staal just looks over matched |

You got it wrong. Attard played a decent game tonight.

That’s a bit premature - Sublime55
No it's not. In fact an argument could be made the dagger was entering March with their schedule. |

It’s premature…lots of hockey left to be played and the schedule lightening up for final stretch. |

I'm kind of surprised Belpedio seems to be just forgotten. Not suggesting he is anything special. However, when a nearly retired Eric Johnson is in the top 6, no way a Dman should be playing below 10 minutes if all are healthy for the entire game. |

Speculation can be argued that the Flyers have a tough schedule coming up. Still have to play those games. Flyers still control their own destiny.

That goal by Deslauriers was the turning point for the Flyers. A master stroke by Tortorella having him out there in the third. |

Lol, both were top shelf goals. There's nothing separating them.
(also you have to admit... not a bad goal for an AHL guy!)

Sandstrom was not as bad as Peterson was against Pittsburgh. Of course, that's not saying much.
On the third goal, he started dropping into the reverse v-h (which I hate, but that's a different discussion) way too early.
He loses track of where the puck is too easily.
Last goal was stoppable and the team really needed it. He dropped a tad too early and the puck deflects up off of his arm.
Adequate goaltending and they probably get a point out of this game. |

The Heinen goal didn't deflect off of Sandstrom. It beat him clean. You'd obviously like to see a save there and it's make-able but its a very well placed shot.
The Flyers were horrendous in that game defensively. It was 5-2 in the 3rd but look at the 2nd period. The Bruins could've had 5 on the board in that period. Sandstrom kept them in the game. A goalie can only do so much. |

The 6 and 7 defensemen of a weak blueline to start the season are the 2nd pair and their starting goaltender got arrested for sexual assault leaving the net to a rookie and below AHL average backups. What are people expecting? |

On the Heinen goal, I could be wrong, but when they finally showed the reverse angle, I am fairly certain that Sandstrom got a piece of it. I believe even Hartnell mentioned that after they showed the reverse angle. The highlights on the NHL app only show the regular angle.
I only got to see the game after it was 2-2. So, if he was keeping them in it, great.
The team definitely made defensive mistakes in the third period. That said, it doesn't change the fact that Sandstrom was not good in the third.
3rd goal was a nice shot, but if he doesn't drop into the reverse v-h, the shot hits him. Once he's down the top 5-6 inches short-side are given away.
4th goal was a breakdown. However, he's saved by the post and is given an opportunity at the loose puck but whiffs. Again, not his fault but had he gotten a piece of it before it came all the way back to Beecher, they don't score.
5th goal was was another breakdown and a nice move by DeBrusk. But not unstoppable. Sandstrom over-anticipated the pass, possibly thinking back to the 2nd goal. Consequently, he was down a bit early giving DeBrusk room beyond the extended pad. I would have preferred to have the goal scored by a perfect pass rather than a good move.
6th goal - if I can find the reverse angle and it went in straight to the top right corner, I will post that. However, I am fairly certain it was a very hard, rising shot that glanced off of Sandstom's glove arm more toward the center of the net. It would have been a great save and the team needed it.
Having played goal from the age of 10 to 40, I know all too well the goalie can only do so much.
Please do yourself a favor and don't assume you know more than anyone else. The condescending tone is really off-putting.

To me Vancouver is such a fraud of a hockey team. I’ve seen them play 4 times total this year and they’ve lost all 4 times. To Detroit and to the Flyers both times. Tonight they lose to the caps. Are we sure Tocchett is the far and away best coach this season? |

If he doesnt drop, the shooter has more net to shoot at and shoots in a different location and who knows then. That play is all about % and making the shooter make a very difficult shot, this time he hit it |

What? Our goaltending is fine. Haha. I’ve said all along that you have to build from the next out and not try the leafs oilers plan of cheating out, ignoring the position with a view to outscoring problems. D and goaltending still win in the playoffs. I suspect that there is no plan other than to ride what we have and pray Ersson is the second coming of Pelle. |

Generally he played well imo until the third. What I notice is that he was back a little too far in his net and as you say, went down a bit early. Big problems vs good teams. I still see more potential in sandy than in Petersen. I’d ride him as the backup for now.

Sandstorm didn't get a piece of the Heinen goal. It beat him clean and went off the far side crossbar and down into the net.
Sandstorm was completely under siege in that early part of the 3rd period. On a number of the goal sequences, he made quality saves first before a goal was scored. Goalies much better than him have been beaten in those situations. With the porous defense played by the Flyers, the Bruins could've easily had 8 or 9 goals on the game. Sandstrom kept them in the game. Especially in the 2nd period. Blaming Sandstrom is just not accurate in my opinion. I blame the ridiculously bad team defense in front of him.
There was nothing condescending in my tone in my post. Don't be an ignorant ass. |
