To be honest, I had little emotional investment in last night's game.
Win, lose, whatever. Turned it off in the 2nd period.
I'm looking forward to watching McDavid on Saturday night (let's hope Mitchy is back on the ice), but really I'm just waiting for the playoffs. - Atomic Wedgie
Same here.
We always overanalyze teams and their probabilities of success in playoffs. Playoffs are different.
a 127 point team can lose to a WC team in the 1st round after being up 3-1 in the series. Its honestly a bit of a poop show.

And yet fighting is still allowed in hockey. Bare knuckle fighting on skates, some day kids will look back on this and shake their heads. - shack67
Last night's "fight" was an absolute embarrassment to the sport.
Two guys who aren't good enough to play hockey in the NHL, and they both know it.
They actually had a discussion with each other in the pre-game warmup, and agree to have a staged fight, and when to do it.
They have their fight - nothing to do with the hockey game. Had no effect on the hockey game whatsoever.
And then they congratulate each other from the penalty boxes - knowing that for some franking bizarre reason, their waste time has somehow solidified their spots on the roster.
I loved fighting in hockey as much as the next guy.
I probably owned the first ten years of Rock 'em, Sock 'em hockey.
I made a VHS fight tape (Cherry used to show the best fights of the week on Coach's Corner, and so did the Global sports news show at 11:30 every night).
But that era is gone.
It's time the NHL got rid of this crap forever. No one will miss it.
Out of all the things kids will look back on us for (if they are capable of looking back on), there will be so many things ahead of this. - Fakepartofme
Not if they’re hockey fans. Even boxing outlawed bare knuckle fighting.

Benches get pretty hyped up every time Reavo fights, fans too.
I agree, staged fights are dumb, but in the heat of the moment I don't mind.
But, lets be honest, these guys are modern day gladiators. They are trading fame and fortune for almost certain brain damage. Very few of these guys are living their best life after hockey. Heck, Tie Domi seems like he's doing alright, but who knows the demons he's fighting.

Back when we didn’t know better we all loved fighting in hockey. But right now I can’t believe that it’s still allowed. Matthews got 3 games for a crosscheck that didn’t even phase the other player but if he dropped the gloves and caused a concussion it would be celebrated by the league and the media.

Oh, yeah. I get that. My point was that those guys were confirmed to have CTE, and I don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility that Simon had it as well. I wasn't referring to suicide or, er, other things.

Oh yeah Simon's family believes he was suffering from it. Considering everything that went on in that dude's life I don't think it's an unreasonable assumption.

Just got to watch last night's game.
Brodie and Rielly should never sniff the ice together again. Brodie should barely sniff it period.
Glad to see JT starting to earn some of that dumb ass pay check.
Matthews is missing Marner.
Keefe sucks. Like really bad.
Boucher must suck too. Our PP is awful and really (frank)ing expensive to be that awful.
I stand by what I say, the problem with this team starts with coaching. Their win percentage would be the same if not better without the coaches. I actually believe that to be 100% true.

Wonder which team shows up tonight. - underhill14
Well, the PP is 5th best in the league and it's like .2 percentage points behind the 2nd place PP.

Still riding on the laurels of the early part of the season. PP has been sucking for a while now...looked much better last night for sure but recently it's been bad, not #2 good.
Don't lie, you blue goo female dog. You know I'm right.
