Last night's "fight" was an absolute embarrassment to the sport.

Two guys who aren't good enough to play hockey in the NHL, and they both know it.

They actually had a discussion with each other in the pre-game warmup, and agree to have a staged fight, and when to do it.

They have their fight - nothing to do with the hockey game. Had no effect on the hockey game whatsoever.

And then they congratulate each other from the penalty boxes - knowing that for some franking bizarre reason, their waste time has somehow solidified their spots on the roster.

I loved fighting in hockey as much as the next guy.

I probably owned the first ten years of Rock 'em, Sock 'em hockey.

I made a VHS fight tape (Cherry used to show the best fights of the week on Coach's Corner, and so did the Global sports news show at 11:30 every night).

But that era is gone.

It's time the NHL got rid of this crap forever. No one will miss it.

No one will miss staged fighting.
But naturally occurring fights im sure they will.
Nothing gets people going in the stands quite lile a good fight or big hit

No one said it was or doesn't.

But he could have been battling depression prior to them.

Still riding on the laurels of the early part of the season. PP has been sucking for a while now...looked much better last night for sure but recently it's been bad, not #2 good.

Don't lie, you blue goo female dog. You know I'm right.

- underhill14

Yeah and everyone elses you look at/watch aren't riding any early part of the season, it's 100% factually accurate. Only the leafs have a misrepresented number.

What do you mean? He was diagnosed with CTE and his family and friends confirmed he was struggling with depression. Did I miss something?

I think you missed the sarcasm?

Well if he was than his CTE made is 10X worse that is for sure.

So personally I think it is irrelevant, the poor guy had CTE and if anyone has someone close to them that has had severe head injuries knows how debilitating it can be mentally.

Regardless of what mental illness they had or did not have prior.

Ffs, no one is arguing cte isnt debilitating, my cousin has been dealing with it for years. It can be rough.
But having depression prior to cte plays a huge part in ones mental health and the impacts or increased impacts it has.
Now that said, its all spectaculation at this point, no idea if he had depression or what impact cte had on his life.

It is extremely reasonable to expect CTE played a large role overall in his suicide.

If you want to disagree go ahead, but don't bash others for thinking and showing empathy to the fact cte played a role in him ending his life, among other things.

And its important to highlight what cte can do to a person so we can avoid more suicides from mental illness in the future.

Quit being so argumentative over everything. Youre an expert in nothing.
I wasnt bashing anyone, i said lets wait until we know the facts. Depression could have played a part in it. But its all speculation right now.
You want to come to a conclusion on everything im in the wait and see boat until we know all the facts.
