Just 13 shots after 2 periods. And scoring with that anemic PP. I take it

Yes, that's the only time I notice him. He's made a few nice diving plays the past few games.

I've been liking what I've seen from them so far as well. They've definitely stepped in and filled in nicely. It's especially great having them in over Staal.

He is being paid for past performance. What was expected of him after missing 2 years off double back surgery?

You think the coach called him into his office before the season and went over any detailed plan?

- furio16

No that’s false. He wasn’t paid for past performance. As mjl continues to say. You absolutely sign him to that extension. That he’s a 1c.

He was extended and paid to perform as a top line center. Plain and simple. And he hasn’t performed to that level. At all. The fact he was injured is just an excuse. The fact is he didn’t perform for those 2 years. Injury linemates China flu asteroid hits earth. Doesn’t matter all excuses. Facts are facts.

And what did I who knows how stupid that extension was expecting? I expected exactly what was given by his performance. As a few others also did. That he would never live up to the extension.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize a dude with 10 extremely hard years on body who has recently dealt with a few serious injuries that was never elite (although very good) would likely break down quickly. Did I expect more than he’s done ? Yes. But never thought he’d live up to or EXPECTED him to be the build around player that extension was given to him for

How many times are you going to falsely claim this. We've had this discussion umpteen times. Not only am I not continuing to say, I have never said that. It's as if you have brain damage or something

Yep sure. And after laughing decide to post didn’t get the point. Yep. Busted.

Because with coots doing nothing offensively all you got is faceoffs and defensive play. Whoopty do. For almost 8 mil and for yet another 6 years.

And when the faceoffs go and defensive play goes it’ll be locker room leader intangibles. I’m all over you bud.

It stops when you admit you were WRONG and Philly ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN EXTENSION AND HES NOT A 1c

So Torts doesn’t play a factor here? 20 mins of ice for 2/3rds of the season for a guy that hasn’t been on the ice for two years? He has hit a wall.

What about Torts usage of players in OT? Nobody cares if you played or not. I have coached some of the dumbest players. It doesn’t mean squat.

Why does everyone bring up an injury from 2022. That is like arguing with your wife yesterday and she brings up something from 2 years ago. That is irrelevant.
If Coots was in the NBA, we would call it a maintenance day. Health management or whatever.

He is a hockey player. He got benched....by a hall of fame coach.

Couturier's injuries and his missing almost two full seasons is extremely relevant.

No doubt. I feel like it was almost expected that he’d either re-injure himself or need to be sat at some point this season back in October.

The point is EVERY nhl player has BOTH good and bad periods of play during a season. I can’t stand when people like mjl point out how well coots played at beginning of season as example of some excuse for poor current play like injury. Or fatigue. Or whatever. It’s a long season every player deals with this.

Yes coots played well let’s not pretend he was playing all star great and huge driving force. He wasn’t. Hart tk tip sanheim coots all played role. All roughly the same driving force in their own right.

Yes his use was high. But that’s what he is paid for. What we’ve learned is he’s more cooked than most want to admit. Take away the fatigue or overuse excuse what is his realistic production going into the next few years? Probably in the middle of his decent start to season and his poor play last 2/3 of season.

Mid

Not elite
Not 1c
Not ABSOLUTELY RESIGN TO THAT EXTENSION
ABSOLUTELY DONT BUILD AROUND
