Was so good.

The wife and I have been curling the last 2 years (she was a competitive curler years ago), and I cant get enough, I love it. disappointed the season ends next week.

A long time ago (about 16 years ago), we were at a Christmas party for my daughter's daycare. We were chatting with another couple, having a good time, when they said they had to go soon - it was curling night.

We got to chatting about curling, and I let them know that my wife had curled for her university.

He smiled and let me know that his wife had won the world junior curling championships.

True Wedgie story.

Magic Number for the Leafs to finish above Tampa is 19.

Put another way, if the Leafs go 6-6 to finish the season, Tampa has to go 8-3 to beat them (they would be tied, but Tampa would take the tie-breaker).

its such a great sport, the social aspect of it really makes it fun
My wife has been curling with Mark Nichols sister in some bonspeils (Brad Gushue vice). And yes..she is also really good.

OMG, the thingy they did at centre ice at the end of the game was so disrespectful and not hockey and I am outraged and I want to punch Bingo! in the face and other stuff!
- Atomic Wedgie

Dunno if it was any of that, but it did look stupid and sloppy.

Boston has 15 overtime losses. Damn that's a lot. I don't think they get past round 1 this year. Just don't have that instinct to kill this year.
- Aaron_85

They can go (frank) themselves.

Hoping they got tossed in 5 games, round 1

7 games in for Edmundson

at 5v5 when he is on the ice goals are 6-1
other stats are not as flattering and he has a 108 PDO, so a lot of on ice luck so far.

hopefully we see the real value in the playoffs

It always does. The whole “bunch of jerks” thing has been milked to death as is the “storm surge” but if their fans like it I guess they will just continue to do it.

I wonder if players who get traded to the Canes are like 🙄 now I have to do the stupid thing players from every other team in the league make fun of Canes players for.

Lol

Also anyone else thinking if Domi starts hitting the inside of the posts he would have like half a dozen more goals in the past week and a half? Feels like he has hit a post - often 2 per game and has no luck with them going post in.

How nice would it be for Domi to really start to become some secondary scoring heading into the playoffs?

It’s the “storm surge” they do after every win at home. Players all in a circle at centre doing the Viking clap thing with some “unique” ending that’s supposed to be cool or funny or whatever.

It’s like the over the top planned out and rehearsed touchdown celebrations in the NFL.

Meh, the players are having fun with it. Their fans love it. Other fans hate it. Other teams hate it.

Looks like a perfect ritual to me.

I didnt even realize they still did that "storm surge" or really just doing the soccer clap. Most of the players didn't look to enthused about it.[img][/img]

This.

FFS, it's NASCAR country.

Anything they can do to sell tickets is OK with me.

Aaah, the long and storied history of Viking hockey. I recall reading about the great northern clan final of 1088, when Half-Dane the Black's team beat the Lowland Raiders in double-overtime to win the Plunder Cup.

Back then, it was customary to execute the losing team's mascot at center ice.

Good times.

If they can’t “sell the game” the way it’s been played forever without stupid gimmicks and monster truck jam tactics then maybe, just maybe the market isn’t one well suited for hockey & they should stick to hockey markets.

Oh but I kmow “we must grow the game”, traditional markets and fans be dammed - you will take the changes and like them so we can have teams like Arizona play in a 5000 seat arena.

awesome, once I got the delivery down it became much more fun..you know being able to make some shots.

iv switched to a stabilizer, im just more consistent with the slide that way.

I went from 1 night a week last year to 2-3 nights and sparing as much as I could. and several bonspeils.

but yeah, get the delivery down. Practice practice, it makes it a lot more fun, and its easier to get better once you dont have to think about sliding

Just watched the "storm surge". The clapping part reminds me of the crap corporate tried to make us do when I worked at Home Depot. Stupid morning "rallies" that were basically pep-rallies like you'd have in high school. Sorry, it's hard to be gung-ho about the company when I am doing three people's jobs for one person's pay.

But yeah, if the fans like it then roll with it. Better this than watching NASCAR, which is soooooo gotdamm boring, like watching golf. I bet it's a lot more fun to drive the car, but it's boring AF to watch. Kinda like golf also - not a terrible sport to actually play, but mind-numbingly catatonic to watch.
