The 5v5 play has still been pretty solid but the PP kills any momentum too much of late. Too sloppy & not looking dangerous has been a pattern for over 20 games. Stay outta the box still has to be a priority leading up to the PO’s.

Another PP outworked by the PK.
Cannot solve their 2 high pressure.
Puck support is sad when 3 are deep.

Smarts & skill is lacking big time & perimeter non threat isn’t cutting it.

Miller isn’t good on the PK. Giveaways on clears & doesn’t do a lot out there.

I hate Podkolzin, kid has to be one of the biggest top ten draft pick busts in Canucks history. He’s up there with Jason Herter.

Something has to be up Petey & I suspect most of it is between the ears. Slows down the play far too much. Playing a bottom feeder & has good wingers now. After his meh 1st period I’m looking to him & Miller to start picking it up. Both are capable to be much better today.

Was thinking something similar I'm betting he's trying to play through a bit of an injury. Even his skating looks off from his strong first half. Has to be more to it than just the mental game IMO.

Actually it’s because he’s a crappy player. Nice try though. Three of the top five busts, for top ten Canucks picks, are all Jim Benning!

Pod is a useful player.. not top 10 worthy but he'll grow into his role. Could have this guy:

Or Virtanen.... or or or...

Poorly developed & stuck in the KHL. Nothing against Russians but they aren’t too smart playing for mother Russia in the key years of development. They tend to be boom or bust.

that photo will live in Canuck infamy for eternity! If you had to describe the Benning era with a photo, that’s it.

He’s a 3rd wheel type winger middle 6 ceiling that should be a 3rd liner. Should model his game after Joshua.

Watching him play it has to be mental. Doesn’t drive play feeling his way into the zone & pulls up a lot often with the play dieing on his stick. Shoots less. Passing skills aren’t the greatest forcing it. All adds up to he’s rarely dangerous.

Think he might be fighting something... like a rib or wrist injury. He doesn't look like he's trying anything he normally would out there, confident or not.

Speculation or not he’s predictable any fan could tell a pro scout. Nothing stopping him from skating.

He &/or the D angles him to the right boards 5-10’ inside the blueline & it dies there. He’s not moving his feet or using power moves but no puck support either cuz they’ve driven by him.

On the PP he doesn’t shoot or do much other than reset to Hughes is a lefty & not available for one timers. Too static & no cycle. Miller is always moving but he’s also on Hughes best side for them to work together. The PP relies on them both to do anything good.
