When ever the Sabres post anything on X regarding Pride they will say “We wish everyone a Happy Pride”. But today they post “Happy Easter to those who celebrate” I can guarantee way more people celebrate Easter than Pride. This organization worries more about their posts on X and social justice than they do about putting a competitive team on the ice. Sad.

Lacaprup, is that you...?

Nice Alt.

Happy Pride Day!

I think we are really sleeping on Matthew Savoie.
- Swedish_Jesus

I don't, as I don't think he's anything more then a small, middle six winger at the NHL level.

Sell high him if another team believes he's a top 6 or better player.

I like him too, alot. He was my choice for the Sabres to select.

He will need some time to adjust to pla6ing against men, rather than 16, 17, 18 yo's. His current season's production, while excellent is closer to what should be expected than not.

I have high hopes for him, but do not expect him to win a Sabres roster spot out of TC. The best thing for him is to transition to then dominate while in the AHL for most if not all of the season.
IMO of course.

Neither player remotely said that after the game last night.
- kingcong39

Maybe not after last nights game, it was quoted in The Athletic from previous games recently.

He has 74 on the season....32 behind Samuelsson who has been out for an eternity.
Tuch has 67 to date.

Tage 6'7" 220lbs
Tuch. 6'3" 219lbs

Both play like 5'9" 161lb Ennis...although, even he had more hits in 3 of his seasons.

I think Ion made a good point on the last page.

Power and Tage are both 6’7 but don’t play like they are.

Benson and Savoie may be 5’9 and 5’10 but they play like they are 6’3.

His point production in the WHL is nothing to sneeze at.

I would be surprised if he wasn’t a 2nd line RW at worst.

Trying hard is great, it’s irrelevant if the effort doesn’t result in wins. Bensons try hard has done nothing for the Sabres….adding another small try hard will have a high probability of equal or less results.

Compounding the issue by adding more youth and small players is not the solution.

Savoie and Benson would be a great start to a line. Having both on ELC and bridge deals allows the Sabres to invest in other areas...or, for the next two season balance out what now appears to be overpayment of varying degrees to:
-Skinner
-Cozens
-Power
-Dahlin
-Tage (huge ? here if will be going forward, but for sure this season he is. Hopefully he bounces back to 1.0+ppg after the injury is healed completely)
and raises to Byram (UPL, then '25 to Byram, Quinn, JJP & Levi)

I don’t think Benson was ready for an NHL workload like he’s gotten. That’s obvious based on his poor counting stats

But I’m not sure how anyone isn’t excited for what he’s going to be.

It’s not Bensons fault Quinn got hurt again and Adams put all his eggs into the Patrick Kane basket.

In the role he would have been asked to play, he has more than held his own.

I look at the problem another way.
The problem is having too many softies who are 6'3+. Why in the world these players don't use their size to compliment their skill set is just plain dumb and should be addressed. It is really malfeasance when earning that level of contract. Having the 5'10" possessing more balls is rather alarming. I would love to have their play style in a 6'3" frame...but that is on those 6'3" players.

In terms of a player comparable? Not sure.

I think there’s a good chance he’s our best or second best forward when he’s 22 years old.

He’s going to be a two way stud

He has a 51% xgf% at even strength this year.

We are controlling play when he’s on the ice.

In a third line role which was the plan for him, that be more than ok ?

If you had to pick a player going forward, are you picking soft Tage or try hard Benson?

Tage, obviously, but why does it have to be one of those 2?

Plenty of other roster opportunities to upgrade upon, including coaches favorites like Greenway, Girgensons and Samuelsson.

Will they upgrade on any of them?

Of course not.

From watching his play on the 3rd line - which was the worst line on a bottom 10 team in the league, I’d say there is significant room for improvement.

Using the NHL as a development until he becomes what everyone hopes, hurts the team.

50.5 xGF%
46 GF%

Controlling is a bit strong for that.

Benson is being discussed as potentially being one of the best forwards for Buffalo, Tage is currently the best forward for Buffalo
