Skinner is owed 10mill next year, after next year his actual Salary drops to 7mill and then 5mill. 1 more year and hope he scores 30 and maybe someone bites at the TDL or Offseason
- Buff36

If some team bites it won't be one trying to win the cup in the next 3 years

Listening to ATW today and they were going over how Terry was selling off non-hockey businesses recently like the 716 etc.

Could be preparing for a sale of the hockey team.

And that would explain why we have a rink manager as GM and a development coach in the NhL.

Cheap.

They also mentioned that GM Adam’s gave his buddies contracts because he knew he was on his way out so why not?

That’s why we don’t have Lindy or any other warm body that doesn’t suck running things around here.

- Da_Cashman

So Terry's cheaping out... by extending everyone way before he needs to? That doesn't make sense.

I mean, I hope to hell it's true and he sells and they move, I'd rather root for a good team in Quebec than a sh¡t team in Buffalo, it's not like I'm ever paying money to see this piece of sh¡t team anyway, it doesn't matter to me where they play.

But at the end of the day it's all a pipe dream, nothing more.

So, I looked at some basic stats, Jeff "Cooked" Skinner is both a positive relative player and a positive Corsi player, full stop, and he has 30 takeaways vs 24 giveaways, and he's 3rd on the team in goals(2nd in GPG). How is that cooked, exactly?

It's pain either way with having Skinner off the team -- whether that be via trade with a quality asset would almost assuredly be attached, or via buyout, which has a rough cap hit the final year of his contract due to the structure of it.

Why ? For all the people who say he's done, his numbers say he's not. Hopefully he keeps pumping goals in. After next year if the Sabres were to retain 50% it would only be 3.5mill in actual Cash and 2.5mill the following year.

I'll be surprised if he is bought out before June 2026. I think he is here for 2 more years.

Edit: I doubt he removes his NMC/NTC whichever it is number 1, and Adams isn't extending his cost out 6 years or 4 years...IMO of course.

Even if you bought out his contract the summer before his final season, you're still stuck with over a $5M dead cap hit.

The structure of his contract is almost buyout proof.

I think the best chance is to Retain 50% after this year. Pegula won't actually be eating the whole 4.5mill of his Cap.

Yes it is $5.6m in yr 1 of 2. It still saves , $3.3m that 1st year. That pays for a 3rd/4th liner.

Tuch and Thompson have played their best hockey this season the past 15 games sans Skinner.

Skinner’s foot speed has noticeably regressed (even prior to the injury) and since coming back from the injury he’s been pushed down the lineup.

The season long underlyings are propped up by his first couple months of the year

Would you trade Joker for Cody Ceci if Joker prices himself out.

He’ll also be 32 next season.

32 years old with a bad back doesn’t sound appealing to me

Doesn't mean it will still affect him next year, he's owed 10 million dollars next year. He's not going anywhere yet!

Probably wishful thinking. The way I heard it is that the side businesses were more of a Kim thing. The 716-related ones like the Healthy Scratch lost money and Terry had no interest in continuing them after her departure.

I'm trying to maintain any sort of hope for this team becoming a contender in the future. It gets more difficult every day when I used the past 5 years as a guide for what we may expect going forward.

I suppose the Byram trade is certainly a ray of hope, as long as the existing Asst Coaches haven't already coached out that which made him a breath of fresh air.

So I ask you all, what sort of optimism do you have that Kevyn realizes the roster needs a couple of good outside acquisitions? High, medium or low?

Rumors were he was looking for a 3C at the TDL, but outside of that I haven't heard him linked to any specific moves.

Your Thoughts?

He'll redo the bottom 6. He'll try and acquire a utility middle 6 F. He'll probably trade Joker.

Until he hires a new coaching staff, it doesn't really matter that much.

Low, zero. He was supposedly looking for a 3C at the deadline so he traded away a C for another LD and is already worried about the cost to re sign him.

I think the thought process made sense. I don't think you want to pay a 3C 7M. One of the issues still ever present is the 'harder to play against' thing and you can find a 3C for half the cost that brings twice that tough, north-south that Casey brings.

That position could be filled better for less. Especially if your return for a 2C in Casey is a top 3 D, who can play either side like Power and Dahlin.

Someone said Couture, but I can't see that. Guy only played 6 games this year. Might not play again.
And I don't think Adams knows how to finish his Puzzle and would be surprised if he did. And he has to atleast change some of the Coaching Staff. He needs a bit of experience somewhere in there. And they made a HUGE mistake letting Peca walk.
