Those are the teams to root hard for

Sabres sitting in 9th, barring changes from the lottery. 8th is possible and low, low chance at 7th if Ottawa could win out.

On the flip side, 9 - 12 is possible as well.

Yeah, I'd be sitting Tage, Cozens, Dahlin and Tuch for the rest of the year. Call up some prospects and give them some games. We can evaluate while securing a better pick. It's a top 8 this year, then a big drop off IMO.

best thing that happened to the bills and also the worst thing that happened to the sabres is Terrence Pegula

His shine on the Bills will be diminished with all the fees in the new stadium though

Rochester winning% .586 -17 in goal differential

Sabres winning% .500 -4 in goal differential

Not much of a difference in quality of play between the 2. I wonder what the expectations will be for those who are promoted.

it will be interesting to see if the local businesses grab all the seats the season ticket holders give up or if it becomes a buyers market

first red flag was a much smaller stadium

in the end, a PSL is not much more valuable than a time share condo

Rochester in the 22/23 season, winning% .563 +3 goal differential

Sabres in 22/23, winning% .555 -4 goal differential

It seems Rochester got worse at offense or defense or got poor goaltending this year, while marginally increasing their winning%. Is this a season to be considered as linear progression? Does it build confidence that the prospects and their ability to turn potential into wins are ready for the NHL?

Buffalo remains flatlined.

I see eerily similar situations.

Most likely, are those goals in games that change the score from 4-1 to 5-1 or are they game tying, gwg's?

bruins signed college free agent jaxon nelson to a contract

would have been a decent lottery ticket for the sabres

someone has to make that 3-0 loss a 3-1 loss so 6K can get more blame

If he's declared to be staying, and they follow that up with "we just extended Donny" I will lose my (frank)ing mind.

What team statistic exists that shows he deserves to stay? They're like 20th or worse in every team category except 5v5 D and goaltending. Like what the (frank).

You're a rush team you (frank)ing chode.

I still go back to two years ago, where Granato pretty much openly stated he didn't really stress defense because he had a roster full of guys who couldn't play it. Now, 2 years later, he either believes he has one or someone else upstairs told him to coach like he has one. My money is on the latter.

Then why trade for another offensive d-man who struggles defensively in Byram then ?

my biggest problem is the franchise had a long record of missing the playoffs

and when it was time to can botts and ralph, both times they promoted from within right away with no searches outside of the pegula umbrella

this would be ok if we had a long winning tradition with these guys but we didn't

He didn't say they couldn't play Defense, he said he wants the focus to be on their gaining confidence in their ability to score that season, then the next season ('23-'24) they will learn to play defensively and hope the confidence in their offensive ability stays strong to get them through lower scoring games on the plus side.

a better coach has this team playing middle of the road defense and top 8 offense/creation.

his guys don't create or drive.

Very interesting post

If long term season ticket holders with their hearts into retaining similar seats (say no now) while the team is also winning, what makes the bills think the psl will hold any value?

I guess if we win the superbowl , seats and psl’s would be impossible to come bye?

I didn’t even think about local businesses vs regular consumers. I don’t think the tax laws help any longer with writing off seats as a business expense.

Funny how saying using your speed to cause chaos could help you defensively. Turned into Defense takes away scoring. I will say this when the Sabres use there Speed and put Puck Pressure on all over the Ice, they are a very Good Team. Unfortunately they only show up to do that in about 25 games.
