Nelson made two great plays in his last shift.

Getting that stick on that pass was huge. Chicago could have been called for interference for knocking that stick loose, but you knew that wasn't happening in that moment. Brock may have saved Ilya some tough work there

Roy said it just felt right to put horvat and barzal back together. In other news the sky is blue and water is wet

Some things seem logical. Others, like engvall having a roster spot, not so much.

He also intercepted a pass and pinched it up against the boards for a good 7 or 8 seconds before that play. Yeah, the guy on Chicago definitely interfered with Palmieri before the deflection.

Patrick needs to go with his best in the top 6 and whatver happens, you live with it because you lost with your best.

Barzal and Bo line 1 and Nelson and Palms line 2. Patrick has been overcoaching with the lines.

Are we in the playoffs?
- streaks

No, but after last nights hugely impressive win over a lottery team the sky is the limit!

According to this site, the Isles now have a 21% chance of making the playoffs.

I mean, pessimistic sarcasm aside, somehow they still have a very real chance at making the playoffs. In a "perfect" world they would claw their way up to 3rd place in the Metro. Otherwise they'll play either BOS or NYR in the first round. Although they can't really handle CAR either, so who knows.

Seems about right. They have 7 games left with 2 of them against the Rangers and one against Nashville. Plus they lose the first tie breaker to all the teams fighting for the last spot.

Islanders should have very little pressure if they do make the playoffs. I just hope ownership does not think all is good if Islanders make it and are one on done again. Making the playoffs can really hurt long term if it will be business as usual.

Generally speaking, I would agree with you. But playing the Rangers, even though they would hypothetically be "expected" to lose....nobody wants to hear all their Ranger fan friends run their mouths for the next 6 months

This is true chief, but this is more for the fans. Players will be fine win or lose.

I'd almost prefer not making the playoffs as opposed to losing to the rags. The isles however could play them well as it's the rangers but I doubt it due to special teams and the pk vs the rags pp

Missing the playoffs may force the owners to take action.

I don't think they are going to fire Lou because if they were they probably wouldn't have let him make a mid-season coaching change. Also the thought of beating the rangers is to hard to pass on

No playoff revenue in a fairly new building is big though. Beating the Rangers would be very sweet, but a huge challenge for this team. If Lou and the owners do not want to rebuild and they are a win now team, missing the playoffs or one and done is unacceptable.

Yeah they would have to have a sudden turn around with special teams. I still would rather make the playoffs because why not. This is more or less our team for a while. I’m not getting the impression that a couple of spots in this draft is super impactful. Not that I think we’ll be keeping our pick anyway so (frank) it.

Maybe I’m wrong about this but I don’t see Lou getting fired or even pushed out gently. That guy will be leaving when and how he wants imo.

Agreed. When coupled with two ECF appearances and his legend status earned over two decades ago, Lou will probably leave under his own terms.

I want the Isles to get in, since I see no bonus to missing by one spot versus getting at least four more games. That said, I still don't think we're going to make it.

I agree on everything. When they let Philly get that point that was the clincher(with a bunch of other clinchers before that haha). If they get in great but I’m not expecting it.
