Right...so the chances of him winning a second cup is almost slim to none...another reason, if you can call it that, to not have hired Torts.
- TheFreak

Winning the cup is an unfair standard to place on a coach. The issue is that in close to 20 years. Tortorella coached teams haven't gotten close.

23-5 Corsi with Tippett

21-8 Corsi with Foerster

13-3 Corsi with Konecny

Give him a winger who doesn't have one foot in the glue factory, and the Flyers will have the puck a lot and eventually score.

- Feanor

It’s amazing to me that Frost needs even better line mates than the best wingers we have to make Frost good. He’s the play driver but it’s still everyone else’s fault on the ice.

So do you and Bill. You disparage players like Tippett and Cates and Poehling in order to make some point about Frost in comparison which is bush league.

We all watched Frost the other night. Stop telling us what we saw with our own eyes.

You had a problem with his presser. I don’t know why. He didn’t do the thing I just listed, that he’s done in the past. He didn’t send out an assistant. He didn’t blow up at the media. So what was so bad about his presser?
- roenick97

Was that a presser? Too me, that looked like the epitaph of a coaching career. Generally, when coaches start blaming players en masse, they are gone fairly soon thereafter.

If they collapse further, I think he is done. If they dont, I think he is done after next year latest.

Caps are +115 against buffalo o/u 6.5
Sounds like easy money

- Bob Habib

Idk be careful. I’ve gone to many caps games here to watch ov.

He usually doesn’t even show up. I think bumbalo might have his number somewhat but caps should win. I’d stay away from it honestly. But I’ve been jaded for what it’s worth

It's not hate but you're simply not objective. You scapegoat players you don't like. When you combine that with your lack of hockey knowledge. It's not a good mix.
- MJL

Ok, I'm not going to continue this argument .. let's change the topic.

Wrestlemania is next week in Philly. I predict the Rock turns on Roman Reigns and enables Cody Rhodes to win the title. What say you?

Unless Torts get his way and more players are moved out of here. I would agree with you if this were a typical situation where the team is already a contending team and the team is underachieving. But in this case, I get the feeling the players are going to be moved, even for pennies on the dollar, based on Tort's preference. And if this happens, there will be no uprising next year. Now if the team does not take another step and those players traded do well elsewhere, then that could spell the end of Torts here. But overall I agree, Tort's is really unraveling.

A “comfortable, positive environment” is what we’ve watched for at least the last decade.
- anti-lame

I didn't say comfortable or country club. I said positive work atmosphere. Big difference. You can still approach problems and issues and come up with resolutions without it being a negative experience.

Torts is a puppet who tries to make the team watchable and brings in viewers while Comcast-Phillies try to convince many people that the south philly complex is economically viable. They are floating a plan to build it up, they are trying to get Sixers to stay etc.

They need vendors there to report good sales, they need substantial traffic there, they need to convince multiple parties how profitable the whole place is.

There is not going to be any fire sale

A standard you placed on the coach until someone (me) had to point out the statistics. So you’re a parrot.

Nope. Just saying when he plays with real with players he drives play and goals occur pretty regularly.

I wonder how much of a cut Tip will get from Frost’s salary

Tippett wouldn’t have turned over that puck in OT 😂

Tell me..did the pass he fumbled go out ahead of him to recieve ..you know feeding the puck to where he is going to be, not where he is, or did it almost go to his feet and on his backhand. Yes he carried the puck into his own end..it happens every OT, as teams reset and try to setup a play to get up the ice. He fed it to Drysdale who skated it deeper into the Flyers end, before passing it back to Frost. It is no different than taking the puck behind the net to slow down the play and have a breakout get setup.

Frost fumbled a poor pass. Yes, I think a guy of his skill should be able to take that pass, but it was a bad pass. You are making it sound like he skated back in front of the goalie and lost control of the puck or passed it to the other team. He fumbled a bad pass.

Maybe if he wasn’t holding his stick upside down he’d be able to receive a pass since he’s an NHL pro. We have this same issue with our kids and them trying to use the business end of their fork 😆

Frosts stick isn’t even all the way on the ice. He tries a cute little receive with the toe
off his backhand and fumbles. Then he COMPLETELY blows coverage and leaves the Isles wide open. He (frank)ing blew it.

Not in his feet. Ahead of him. He’s too nonchalant with the puck in his own zone in OT. Plain and simple.

Maybe I’m expecting too much from an NHL rookie. Oh wait, he’s not a rookie? How old is he? Ok then I guess Torts yo-yo’d him, that’s why he made the bad play.

Yeah, that’s the ticket

Ok, so you had said his stick was upside down. It wasn't.

The pass went off the heal of his stick on the curve, which is why it bounced the way it did, because Frost had to pull his stick back to recieve the pass that was behind where he was heading.

I will give you that he blew the coverage on the goal scorer, but I don't think he was expecting the pass to be where it ended up coming to.

Exaggerating obviously. He would have been better off using the butt end of his stick lol

Do you know what the heel of a stick looks like? Because his was in the air, off the ice lol maybe go watch your own replay. If it got anywhere near the heel of his stick it would have gone under his blade. Also egregious. He didn’t have to pull his stick in tight, he just got too cute.

The mistake made was if you're going to take the puck back that deep in your defensive zone, take the puck behind the net, which is what Drysdale should've done. It's dangerous to pass the puck side to side in deep in OT. It wasn't a perfect pass but one Frost should've handled but didn't. That happens. Frost didn't blow the coverage. Drysdale tried to poke check Palmieri and missed, causing him to get flat footed and Palmieri beat him and was heading to the net, which is why Frost moved to cut him off. Leaving Nelson uncovered. If Drysdale had maintained defensive position and kept Palmieri in front of him Then Frost would've taken Nelson.

Aka

Blown. Coverage.

He should have deferred that to Drysdale and Fedotov. Instead he slid in and left his man wide open.

Do you think Frost slammed his stick against the boards because Drysdale and Fedotov combined couldn’t take care of 1 guy? Frost knows whose fault it was.

You commenting on plays is hilarious. Just like when you said “low blocker is a hard shot to stop” 😂 do you know from experience or did you read that in “The Great Big Goalie Book” from the 70s?

Maybe you and Bill can trade ball hockey tips

You explained why Frost did what he did. And now I have to come on here and explain to you why that was the wrong play.

You’re welcome.

Interesting. I find your take, and that of many others here, like Landros2 et al, and those who say things like "Rome was not built in a day" and "baby steps" etc even more weird (as it is so very obvious that statistically speaking, the odds of the path we are on leading to eventual success are stupendously small).
- PT21

I don’t honestly know what path they are on. Lol. To me it’s mixed messaging. I do know one thing. There is no ‘one” right way. I do know that in the cap world bad contracts compound the problems a team has. I know the Flyers have far to many of those. It’s easy to arm chair GM this team because of where they are.
I have seen some growth this year. I think young guys like York, Tippet, Farabee and Foerster have taken this team closer to “eventual success” or at least closer than they were. These guys all have the potential to be very good NHL players that you can win with.

So ya it has to be baby steps….and yes Rome wasn’t built in a day…..and I agree as of today, I’m not loving the odds.
