You are just doing this for clicks, right? You don't really believe this is how everything works?

Regarding Fletch, he used the analytics for the age chart and player trade value app and not much else. His lack of proper use of analytics was widely mocked. How soon we forget.

Here's how you build an analytics staff : https://theathletic.com/2...largest-analytics-staffs/

Hard to believe a Philly native who went to Wharton and interned under Howie Roseman wasn't hired by the Flyers but at the time they were looking at people to do age charts instead of real analytics work.

Analytics still hasn't reached ice level or ND wouldn't be playing among other questionable decisions. As far as the front office goes, talk is cheap. Fletch talked up the analytics dept while sidelining them so we'll see.

Fletch increased the Analytics staff from 3 to 5 and then either ignored them when it came to trading for, then resigning RISTO or they were complicit with it, establishing their incompetence

My predictions, Penguins keep on believing and beat the Capitals tonight, Islanders move into a tie with the Flyers for 3rd place. Same points in the same number of games, so same point percentage
- jd250

Wouldn't be a tie, as Philly would still have more regulation wins, so they would still sit in 3rd and NYI 4th

I feel no analytics staff would go near Risto or ND. They are both kryptonite to modern hockey and probably to anyone's career in analytics.

Simply can't say a GM grew and developed analytics while trading for Ristolainen and signing Deslauriers. That suggests that either your analytics department isn't very good or they just ignored them.

Rempe with his standard game line -- 2 sec TOI, 15 PIM and the dude really can't fight. He just stands there with his arm extended

What was the reasoning for all of that? All 10 guys just dropped them and went at it 2 seconds in.

I just read Jeff Skinner is the first player to play 1,000 regular season games and never play in a playoff game. Holy moly

Didn't he force his way out of Carolina?

He really can't fight. Dude better learn to actually play hockey or he isn't gonna be long for the NHL.

LOL, said the same thing last night. He really is not that good of a fighter. Maybe he learns how to play at some point as well.

He’s willing to take too many punches. That’s not a great recipe for longevity even though he can take a punch. He moves well, but still needs to learn how to throw proper body checks with out chicken winging guys like he did to get his most recent suspension.
He’s gone against all the top heavy weights and is still standing but to help a team like the Rangers he has to offer more. Especially in the playoffs. Not sure the Rangers can afford a policeman in their lineup every night. The coaching staff say he’s teachable and is improving so it will be interesting to see if they dress him when the games really start to matter.

There is no doubt that the Red Sox use analytics. What I am saying is moneyball is a false narrative. The Reason why the A's went to the playoffs in 2002 was not because of analytics, it was because they had the best starting pitching in the league with Mulder, Zito and Hudson, and hitters like Tejada, Chavez and Dye. They conveniently left this out of the moneyball narrative. The 2013 Red Sox is a different story, I'm sure analytics had a lot to do with that team, as did the marathon bombing earlier that year.

It's not a false narrative. It's well documented that Theo Epstein used moneyball philosophies with the Red Sox.

I enjoy how you've been completely minimized and reduced to making petty comments with zero substance or intelligence. You're not even clever enough to come up with your own insults. We'll just add you to the troll list.
