Don't they need the #1 pick in 2026?

Not a lot of NHL coaches leave guys on the ice for 4 minutes shifts when the need a goal to tie.
- stevefrmglencoe

Probably tried, but he wouldn't come off the ice. I guess he should bench him next game..............

Your next 10 years with LR as coach are going to be miserable.

As with all players and coaches, you can find something to female dog about them every game if that's your goal.

I really don't understand the LR hate, they continue to play hard with the hand he's been dealt, when most if not all other bad teams quit in their race to the bottom.

Scotty Bowman in his heyday couldn't get a winner out of this talent, but he gets them to play hard most every night.

If the Hawks are still bottom feeders in 2026, will KD still be the one making the pick?

I think that it's technically possible.

I believe the rule is that you can't improve your draft position more than twice in a 5 year span, but if you finish dead last, win the lotto balls, you've not improved your draft position.

You are just remaining on the top of the garbage pile.

He'll be fine. He just has to ask Stevie Y if he can license the naming rights to his plan and everyone will think he's a genius.

If the Hawks are still bottom feeders in 2026, I think something would have gone horribly wrong. No, I don't think he'd be the one running the show anymore.

Some interesting bits in this article from BleacherNation:

https://www.bleachernatio...other-blackhawks-bullets/

For one, there seems to be some growing love for Demidov despite the Russia thing. Two, the chart at the bottom about defensemen gives some insight to why Crevier and Phillips are back in RFD. Just bad...

If the Hawks are bottom feeders in ‘26 the United Center will be a ghost town and KD will join McDonough as persona non grata. But I expect we’ll see significant improvement on the ice next season and in subsequent seasons. Hopefully by 2026 the team is a solid playoff team.

Rockford's Nolan (Ethan) Allan will be out for about 3-4 weeks with a lower body injury.

I’d prefer the Hawks steer clear of any Russian player with that first pick. Too many potential problems from KHL contracts to possible Russian Hockey Federation interference. Unless of course there’s some assurance in place ahead of time that the targeted player will be available.

I think it all depends, KD did hire LR more importantly he brought in Kevin Dean to teach the young dmen.

I think they are doing a good job of developing the young talent, Kaiser is beginning to look like an NHL dman, it doesn't look like they broke Korchinski, Vlasic is looking like a stud so maybe going back to the Rock last year really helped him round out his game.

He encouraged Kurashev to file for arb and took the 2 year deal he could, which looks like it's paying dividends now.

I like his approach to the college players, like Nazar it's up to him on if he wants to go back to school or sign with the Blackhawks.

I believe for him to get fired all his draft picks would start trending in the not going to be an NHL player category and there's no light at the end of the tunnel.

I look at CBJ, Ducks, Habs, NJ and some others and know this is going to take at least 5 years, at the same time this team by 26 should start trending up, i see many here talk about the Ducks and their young talent but they still suck so will we be in those shoes, i highly doubt it but you never know.

I'll also add, considering how KD has amassed many picks in the top 100, what i do expect to start seeing in the next few years is the ice tilting in our favor. Quality Depth is so hard to come by on any hockey team and the teams that have it lose it quickly, so that's when we start winning when the quality depth begin appearing on the ice, Slaggert is one of those pieces

I was obviously joking a bit. I do think though if the team is consistently bottom 5 in the league and not able to make at least some advancements in the win column KD's spot will not be secure. Everyone understands they are starting over from scratch, but growing your prospects and becoming more competitive are not mutually exclusive.

There is literally nothing that says the Hawks have to be really bad while these kids gain experience.

To the bolded point, I do think they are doing very good work with the D-men. It also goes to show that not every prospect will be grow into an NHL player. For all the initial promise he showed, Phillips can't seem to put it together despite this being his 4th year in the pros. It will start to get more interesting/exciting when the forwards start trickling in.

Well this strat-o-matic card is not kind to Blackhawk defensemen, especially Phillips and Crevier

Basically every Hawk defensemen is below NHL average in this stat:

Pretty much passes the eye test, no? I'd love for KK to take the offseason to study the better all-around D-men in the league (Josi, Fox, Theodore, Dahlin, McAvoy, etc). Being that he's 19 I'm willing to give him a bit more runway than others, but I want to see him eventually start imposing his will on others rather than eating what comes at him.

Not surprising for both those two and the Hawks in general being down the list. We need more talent in the lineup and I think especially at Center to help drive the play in a positive way.

This is part of why I was saying the other day that "maybe" the Hawks won't QO Phillips/Crevier and might let them walk.

I think this is also identifies how you need depth at the forward position. Sharks Ducks Calgary are all in that bottom left corner

I think we've started to see more assertiveness from our young D in recent weeks. I think Korchinski was more physical lately, responding to the poor showing vs LA.

I don't know if I'm the only one but I think Vlasic has started to ramp up a little on the physical end too, he was always more involved that way, but I think we might even see a little bit of edge from him coming out when push comes to shove.

Or maybe need better veteran presence than Megna, Tinordi, Zaitsev, especially since there is no mystery knowing what Murphy and Jones are.
