1-8 since Coots was scratched. Tuning Torts out since?
- TheFreak

That and the balls comment probably cemented things, there are a lot of players on this team that have just quit.

Ersson has played more games this year than in any year of his career previously and has done most of it since Hart has been gone. He’s probably just hit a wall. Additionally, the team hasn’t been playing well in front of any of the goalies. Remember, BOB hit a wall in his rookie season. So I haven’t lost confidence is Ersson moving forward.
- Schmojo

Well he hit a wall last year with the Phantoms as well they said. Maybe he just isn’t in good enough shape to carry the load. Or maybe he is just nothing more than a backup goalie. Just not buying he is tired excuse as it is just that an excuse.

Nobody has any balls. They don't understand that things are different now. Flyers have to find another level.

That's completely wrong. Nobody has quit. They're worn down and out of gas. It's amazing that it hasn't happened sooner.

Insane. I’d be very open to getting rid of torts after this collapse. He’s not going to be the guy long term anyway.

So you think they quit while in a playoff spot with 2 weeks left in the season?

The flyers need to lose out. The reason why is maybe that makes the front office realize they aren’t close to being a legit playoff team.
Winning games in the beginning and middle of the season is one thing but when teams are playing for jobs and playoff positioning you need more.
They don’t have more.
I’m pretty sure the players know they are done.

Well I mean I don’t necessarily disagree. Too many players did not step up.

But at this point, Torts would be better suited toning it down.

DB needs to get rid of both. The problem is even if DB wants to get rid of Tory’s will he be allowed?
I like Farabee be he needs to do more he isn’t a leader type of guy. Maybe he needs the extra time from his injury last year. If I need to add him in a trade to get a high return I trade him. TK is gone.
Nic D gone.
Risto I would want gone but who knows what is injury is so you are stuck with him.
That’s for starters.

- bird_dog_pa

How much do you think DB regrets at this point refusing to go with the rebuild and instead of prioritizing the playoffs this year?

https://theathletic.com/5...e-flyers-laughton-briere/

Just getting what Briere termed as “fair value”for Laughton, though, wasn’t ever going to be good enough. Not this season, and not with how Laughton is viewed by his peers — some of whom actually went to Briere to tell him how much they appreciate the current alternate captain, who was the only player to wear a letter before Sean Couturier was named captain last month.

I wasn’t going to trade him for fair value, because he’s more than fair value to us — the intangibles that he brings in the locker room (are) something that has no price, and the other teams don’t see that,”Briere said.“ But we do, and I told him that.I told him, ‘We’re not going to trade you if it’s just a fair trade. Someone would have to overstep and really knock it out of the ballpark for us to consider it.’

Hands down the Jack Adams award winner two years in a row. Clearly he has done the best coaching job in the league.

I don’t think you can really say one way or the other
That Ersson can’t be the guy. It’s up to him and the coaches to progress his game.

Typical Flyers. Completely overvaluing intangibles and role players. The Flyers have a propensity for that to start with made even worse by the head coach. Who is the guiding force in the organization.

I would be shocked if Laughton is on the roster when training camp begins. Of course, I could be wrong.

I forgot about Laughton. If DB didn’t trade Laughton at the deadline because it was a lateral trade and didn’t improve the team it’s not that big of a deal,
I I could have gotten a first round pick at the deadline then yes.
This offseason he needs to go.

I wouldn't be shocked. Not at all. He is a Tortorella guy. Laughton, Poehling, Hathaway. They're the core players on the team to Tortorella. The kind of players that he values the most. Players with balls.
