I’m not worried about Tippet, York, Forester or Drysdale.

Cates, Poehling, Hathaway and Seeler are not what’s wrong with the team.

I could see Frost sticking around because we need centers and he seems to get along with Tippett on the ice

I’d love to move on from Coots, Laughton, TK, Atkinson, Risto, Sanheim and kick tires on Farabee. This last group, both on the ice and on paper, are what’s hurting this team IMO. Just a bad mix. A far too common issue with this team. Our “good” players just aren’t that good.

I agree with your statement for the most part. I think Frost and Torts have figured things out , and he will most likely stay whether Torts is the coach or not. At least one of Laughts and TK has to be moved (I wonder if TK has been playing injured...looks like he may have an injury the way he was carrying his stick). You aren't moving Coots with that contract and I doubt Sanheim either. Atkinson is cooked and needs to go bye bye, and Risto can go too if they can find a way. Farabee I just don't know about. I wonder if he wants to play for Torts? He's been dreadful for the last 6 weeks and I might look into moving him. Okay, that's all.

Tbh, I’d be very open to moving on from him and going with a younger coach. Just the lineup and in game line decisions baffle me. At minimum we need someone else to run the pp.

The frost situation was on thing but the couturier mess was over the top. What’s our record since he decided to bench the captain? 2 5 and 3 with 3 losses against definite bottom feeders. Gee that worked well

- Hextall271

Agreed. I just don’t think they will move on from him yet. I would much rather have a coach that focuses on development rather than schoolyard bully tactics.

His act is old and his lineup decisions are a total mess.

Problem is, Michkov is the only real piece right now, and the notion that the organization thought it was more important to get 4 or 5 playoff games (where we all know good and well the coach would ride the veterans) than to maximize draft capital tells me they're really not interested in building anything, but instead will take every short cut possible to reach the low bar of just being a playoff team. And even more sad, the Phantoms seem to have that same mentality... be good enough to just make the playoffs, and all is well.

To me, they're just stringing fans along, and sadly (as has been mentioned on this forum in the past), there's a ton of gullible fans out there.

I’m not getting that feeling. If their real goal was making the playoffs and they were content with that, there is no way they’d move Walker. The Johnson move doesn’t matter at the time the organization needed a body. A laughton trade didn’t have to come at the deadline. It could come next summer. Konecny is an interesting tell. He needs to be moved by next years deadline. I think they go into the season with him without a deal and will move him at deadline. I think they want his services for a year so the team has some talent to draw people

Feel like we need to give farabee 2 more seasons

I've loved Coots and Laughton for their careers here but we have to move them to bring in new talent or we risk having to give up some of our youth with talent (Frost, Farabee, etc)

I love Cates and his Hockey IQ so hopefully he can become our new Laughton. You have to respect Seeler's hustle and play. Hathaway is who he is probably just TDL bait here soon

- 2Real

I don’t disagree, I’m not eager to move him but him, along with some other guys, we just need to figure out what they are before we give them Tippet and Sanheim deals

I just think Sanheim leveled out into a very average defenseman. He’s not fast and doesn’t really use his size and unfortunately doesn’t have the hockey IQ to make up for either

Poehling, Hathaway and Seeler are what's wrong with the team at the front office level. These are the kind of guys who can be picked up off the scrap heap every offseason for pennies on the dollar, yet here the Flyers are paying a premium, both term and dollar-wise. It doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense for a rebuilding team to hand out 2+ year deals with a pay raise for the type of role players that seem to be available every year.

Very funny to see some fans clamoring for the return of Risto, as if he would get them back on track. A real laugh riot!

sanheim is a good 3-4 dman but is tasked with carrying the load until Drysdale and york are fully ready to take over

He's crap on the PP though

Cap wise they are a drop in the bucket. They aren’t holding us back financially or on the ice. I don’t think any of those guys are getting paid “premium”. They are fine role players. Yes you can go find cheaper options but they are cheaper because they aren’t as good. I actually love a Cates, Poehling, Hathaway 4th line. They are effective. I think all these middle of the pack forwards are what we have to worry about paying premium for. TK, as good as he is, is a middle 6 forward on a good team, Farabee a 3rd liner on a good team. Same with Frost and Brink. They’re nice players but we end up overpaying these type of guys. I’m ok with Tips deal because I think he will be a stud. My opinion.

And I also don’t have an issue with pushing Coots to see what he has in him. I don’t want to do this song and dance for the next six years, coddling his minutes, playing it safe with him, watching him get injured etc. he’s your captain and #1 center and paid like it. I’m not saying you buy him out any time soon but I think they wanted to see what he has and know whether he can continue to play NHL hockey sooner than later. I don’t want to be having these Coots discussions for 6 more years.

Exactly ….all three are decent players if slotted right. Two 4th line guys and a # 6 d.

True because Hextall was given control for 5 years. When asked to move forward Hextall said he need 7 years. No owner is signing up for that. But the reason it was a complete disaster was because Hextall stunk at drafting and the team is still feeling the ramifications of that today.

Look at all the wasted picks between 2014-2018. That kills a franchise. Fletcher continued to hurt the team with bad free agents and trades but the life blood of any professional sport is amateur drafting. If Briere can’t get that right either he will be fired in 5 years.

Same can easily be said about Fletcher wasting picks in a different way.

I think its better for everyone if they move him this summer. With all the talk of an extension, if they don't extend him on July 1st and let him go in to the season on an expiring deal, I think the giant writing on the wall could end up a distraction more than anything. My opinion is that if they don't move him this summer, he is most likely extended and staying.

The beatings, I mean rebuild, will continue for 4-5 more years. I just hope they trade TK. This summer is the time. As for Coots he isn’t going anywhere and everyone will be talking buyout for the next 6 years. Get used to it. Also, let it spur your desire for trading TK so we don’t get another similar contract.

Also, I hope they ‘promote Torts.’

For being a middle 6 winger on a good team he can score goals on a poop team.
TK could start on quite a few good teams.

I’m being a little harsh on TK as he could probably slot in a few first lines in the league. He’s just not what we need right now on the cap. You trade TK for assets and hope Tippett picks up the slack. I think TK would look good in a Kings uniform.

I would put Tippet up there. He isn’t a third line player on good teams. He has his warts for sure but he is on his game he is better than TK. If Tippet can become adequate defensively and become more consistent he would be a star player.

I would trade him on the off season. I wonder if contract talks and trade rumors would affect his game and his value drop leading up to the in season trade deadline.

Yeah we need to rip the bandaid off before the season starts. We for sure will know what we have in the other players if they get a full season of only them carrying the load. My worry is they will hold onto TK in order to go all in on this “Coots-Tk-Sanheim” era when I think forcing that group as the core is likely going to fail.
