The GM said had up to 5 injuries. Yet they all were on board playing him. After out of action for 2 years. Not wise.
- furio16

Did he tell anyone that he didn't want to play or couldn't play?

He is in control of his body

Please no Atkinson, Johnson or Staal tonight. Ginning and Attard can’t be any worse and need the playing time. Gurianov has speed and lots of it. What do the Flyers have to lose?
- mikeyo27

Unfortunately a coach will depend on vets more than rookies. I am okay with johnson as number 6. Staal can pack his bags for all I care.

Agreed. Johnson is serviceable but staal is beyond cooked. He completely misplayed one of the goals vs the buffa slugs

I just want to know what the point of sitting Attard and Ginning is, when the Phantoms are also fighting for a playoff spot.

Flyers are now out of a playoff spot pending tonight. I said the Pens were done a few weeks ago. That didn't age well.

Well, technically, he called the young guys up...never promised he would play them??? Who knows.

Nobody could have anticipated just how inept the Flyers would turn out to be.

Ditto Washington and Detroit.

Flyers are in danger of falling to 6th in the Metro.

Well did they guess he had 5 injuries? Or did he get examined and all parties knew? The length people go to defend this organization is odd.

They have him locked up for 6 more years. Do you not be cautious knowing he just missed 2 years? They were rebuilding they told everyone. So why not play towards the future in his situation?

Of the 5 games left 3 fall into that category but so were the last 4. It’s a shame since they really showed they COuLD play with top teams most of the season.
It could be the pressure eventually got to team and they don’t know how to adjust their play.

It’s still just year 1 of the official rebuild and the building blocks / players are not there yet.
It’s still a better team to watch than the last few years.

- Hosher12

It could also be that Torts relies on two dinosaur Dmen who shouldn't even be playing during the "rebuild"
Throw the name Atkinson into the group as well.

my god johnson and staal suck put in ginning or attard/zamula
- 2Real

This! Attard and Ginning looked surprisingly well together.
Does anybody have their plus/minus when they're on the ice together?

If they make the POs, and that's a big if right now, Torts will totally bench as many kids as possible for those vets.

Zamula, Lykell, Ginning, Brink and Attard will be getting no PO experience.

For longevity and consistency he is. How many years has it been where he has earned a point a game?

I can't remember watching another player like him

- WhiskeyMan

Crosby tied Gretzky for most consecutive seasons averaging a point per game. I think it's 20 seasons. He's an all time great but not the GOAT

he's nowhere near the GOAT

whos comparing him to Coots....thats just weird

- THE BLACK HAND

Maybe the point is that the Flyers will be paying Coots to be a 1st line center when he's even older than Crosby is now and that was just never going to be the reality that Coots could do that.

Generational talents can play into their late 30s and be effective. OV, Crosby, etc. That's not Coots, never was.

I see that buzztron thing or whatever it is has the Flyers finishing with 92 points and third in the Metro. Anyone wanna take bets on that?
- Phillywhiteout

Well, they haven't won since middle of March or something. After a "easy" schedule lately.

Help me understand the hate?
- landros 2

It’s not hate…. Since this team never learns I need it shoved down their throats to rebuild. And missing playoffs will help with that.

Yeah, not a complete goat but I can't remember a player as consistent as he is. Maybe Matthews has a chance.

I hate Crosby but totally respect his play.

As much as I like to rag on you, I can't in this case cause I thought those d!cks were dead and buried too.
- Phillywhiteout

I was totally kidding about bunting being a super star, but he is really the type of player that team has needed for the last 4 or 5 years.

Not defending at all.

The flyers pushed him way to hard. The lack of talent and torts sitting frost took a toll on coots because of the racking up of minutes.

But coots could have spoken up and didn't. He is a true hockey player, pkau through pain and injuries. Which I luv about hockey players. Just at some point he could have spoke with the coach and said cut my minutes a bit.
