With only a few games remaining I doubt any prospects will sign and be allowed to burn a year off their entry level contract
I am going to be closely watching both Hayes and Ludwinski in training camp. Could both get a look in Chicago next season?
Of course both DelMastro and Allen should get at minimum a cup of coffee. I would really like to see Dach get a look too. One more year collegiate can only help development for Moore, Greene Nazar. These players as well as Savoie would be a good bet to eventually play fir the Blackhawks NHL.
Lardis and the Russian kid intrigue but not likely playing here soon although Lardis reportedly signed..
Add Rinzell to that list. Seeing each of these players filter in along with top first round picks in '24 and '25 is exciting because I see KD fulfilling his strategy for the kind of players he wants to assemble. And Slaggert is here to stay |

Where do you think Zegras winds up?
I don't think Yzerman would go after him. Maybe Ottawa? |

I wouldn't write that in ink just yet. It's great that he's been playing with the big club, but if we follow what the FO and LR have done thus far, they are happy to give guys a taste and then send them down to work on things. If Slaggert comes into camp and shows improvement, then sure, but I think it's just as likely (if not more) that he starts the year in Rockford.
Camp will be interesting for sure.

I would like to know what KD's plans are for pairing Korchinski (and Kaiser) with NHL quality defensemen ?

Well, one of them will be Murphy. I can see them trying to pick up another vet for the right side. I'd love them to get Pesce, but don't see it happening. Maybe Chatfield, or Hakanpaa? Maybe a trade?
To amend what I said, camp AND the offseason will be interesting. |

Problem with Murphy is he tends to miss 1/2 the season. The other half he plays the board thinks he is terrible (although be careful what you wish for (Megna)).

It’s ok to name the kids as having bad games. You don’t always have to pin it on the other guy. KK made several individual mistakes/weak plays. It’s fine. He’ll learn from it. Kaiser has been a pleasant surprise. I think all the young guys could do well to start making quicker decisions with the puck. It will come with time. - Chunk
Sure, but it's okay to point out they had no help while being paired with those 2 other players, or the forwards not being fast enough to be an outlet along the boards in their own end. Must be a reason that all the defenseman make that pass probably because the forward is suppose to be there. |

Seems rather straightforward for the Hawks to add a Dman that can play in the 13-18 minute range. There are several RD options that will be on the market. |

So long as it’s not Chicago I don’t really care. This guy is as talented as they come but it’s more and more apparent he’s a sideshow Bob. He starts poop on the ice and then hides behind the refs and linesmen, all the while yapping at his opponents. He can’t or won’t back check, he’s got little interest in defensive coverage. And while he seems to be a favourite of his teammates he’s already had a salary dispute with the team. The Hawks don’t need the nonsense regardless of the talent. |

That he remains in Anaheim would be refreshing and best for the team and the player himself
They drafted him. They need and he needs (their best prospects) to stay, develop and shine. I hate seeing young players bandied about due to financial or and other reasons |

If you catch the Rockford games i thought i saw Powers say something about Ludwinski could report to Rockford as soon as today.
The Russian kid signed a 2 year deal so it'll be a couple of years at least.
I'm intrigued to see Ludwinski he looks a bit like Slaggert style of play. I think he wears the A for his team.

Unlike baseball, hockey is a dynamic game. A hockey player, for various reasons may be out of position. A catcher throws to second because the shortstop or second baseman is expected to be there, if the throw is good and is missed, that on the middle infielder. In hockey you have to look to ensure the teammate is in fact there. A blind pass is on the passer, period. |

Oh, for sure. I think all of the defensemen will "magically" start to look a lot better once they put some NHL level forwards on the ice. Right now, about three of them can be counted on to actually enter the offensive zone and maintain any kind of possession. The rest are "thoughts and prayers" type players who try really hard, but are largely ineffective. Having forwards that can and will be where they should - reliably - will help the defensemen immensely.
You can literally see the indecision of most defensemen when they break out of their own zone. |

Chatfield was a guy they mentioned in The Athletic. RHD makes sense with all the LHD prospects. Carrier (NSH) was another guy they mention. Both might want term but neither should break the bank. |

I agree, even yesterday when Korchinski seemed to communicate to Slaggert take the guy with the puck but just didn't trust him to do it, even though he did. |

I actually liked it when Kaiser didn't have a play so he just tried to hold it against the boards until more players came into the zone.

They need everything. They are poor at scoring as well as keeping the puck out of their own net. They get wildly outshot a lot of games. They have great problems getting and keeping possession. Fingers crossed they can start improving in all of these areas next year. |

I have no problems, mistakes and all, with the way any of the rookies have played. Kaiser may quickly become a fan favourite the way he competes, especially considering he’s giving up allot of weight in many of his battles and he still wins his fair share. |

LR about that play
“There was communication, but then there was miscommunication,” Richardson said after the game. “I guess (Korchinski) thought (Slaggert) wasn’t going to get there, so we double up. We both go to (Faber). We have to have clear communication and we put that on the D to call that early. If (Korchinski) thinks a guy’s got good speed and he can get there, then the D stays in the middle and our forward will push to the outside. But if you don’t, you have to call him off. The D is skating backward (so) you see everything because you’re facing forward. The backchecker doesn’t really see the next guy coming, so you have to be his eyes. I think (Korchinski) said the right thing at the beginning and maybe decided that (Slaggert) wasn’t going to get there and he went to help. He wanted to help, which causes more harm.”
