I believe that was me. And I didn't say he WOULD finish with anything. I said he was ON PACE FOR 115 at that time, because that's the way math works.
- Tonybere

the way he's playing, he's got a shot, but whether or not that last game vs Ottawa has any meaning is going to be a factor

if we have Prez trophy sown up by then, I think Lav will probably choose to rest him regardless of how close he is at that point

You would think that since he did show up on a weekend he would acknowledge that Goodrow had a 2 goal game 🤷‍♂️

And got robbed twice more last night!!
Earn that money, you beautiful bastard!!!

Yeah, back when we had that discussion I really didn't think he'd have much of a shot. But, holy crap!! He's making a run at it!

Edit:
We will have about a week off before our 1st playoff game, so I think there's a good chance no one gets rested.

can't believe it still could be about 5 different playoff opponents at this point

Since the 1985-86 season, Presidents' Trophy winners have won the Stanley Cup only eight times: 1986-87 Edmonton Oilers, 1988-89 Calgary Flames, 1993-94 New York Rangers, 1998-99 Dallas Stars, 2000-01 Colorado Avalanche, 2001-02 Detroit Red Wings, 2007-08 Detroit Red Wings and 2012-13 Chicago Blackhawks.

Thats like 20 percent of the time.

5 times the Presidents Trophy winner lost in the first round.

But the Rangers also beat the odds in grabbing the Second then the First overall picks and the President Trophys winner is long over due for a win, So just maybe, just maybe!!

- Brukie

Hockey is probably the only sport in the world where the playoffs are genuinely anyones game. Obviously some more favored than others but there are no locks. With that being said, every teams chances to win the cup is 6.25%, so 20% isnt too bad.

Agreed, if he is 2 or 3 points away, I can't imagine Lav sitting him. But let's make it simple and have him get to 124 earlier

I'm not overthinking it, I just want any potential playoff game 7's to be played at MSG

Not that it really matters, but given how Roslovic has played, is Wheeler going to be back for the playoffs?

I'd honestly rather leave Vesey there.

wasn't someone talking about signing roslovic long term because he had a first few good games on the 1st line? think it was TJ

Good win. Did Zibanejad need me pooping on him for motivation? Yes. You're all welcome. Panarin, what a season. Laf, what a season.

I think it's way too early to close the book on Roslovic, just like it was way to early at that point to say "hey we gotta re-sign this guy"

I'm sure he's gonna factor in at some point

Yea after one game some people wanted to give Roslovic a long term deal. There is a reason he only cost a 4th round to acquire. You hope he can contribute come playoff time but I am not sure what roll he will have

Jimmy Vesey can’t be your 1st line RW come playoff time. We tried that experiment, and while it gets you by, it’s why we went out and got Roslovic.

We see now why Columbus gave him away for at best would be a pick that has, at best: a 15% of playing NHL games.

The week off will certainly play a factor. I can almost see Lavy playing everyone because of the time off.

It’s inevitable that they’ll have heavy legs to start the playoffs

Oh, I don't disagree.
But, we saw that Wheeler isn't even going to get you by and Roslovic hasn't figured out what he is there yet.
So, of those 3 options, I stand by my statement.

It was said on the TSN broadcast last night that of the teams that have won the Presidents trophy and gotten knocked out early, a number have won the Cup the following season. Interesting trend to keep an eye on!!!

There isn't enough of a substantial difference between Roslovic and Vesey. Roslovic is better offensively and Vesey is better defensively.

Definitely agree here. However, if we aren't using Roslovic, who should we slot into that spot? Kakko? He has been great in his role on the 3rd line and seems like he thrives with those teammates as opposed to 20 & 93. Limited options unfortunately

Vesey on the first line is fine. Not ideal, but fine. I prefer him further down on the 4th because it lengthens the lineup immensely as he outmatches a lot of other 4th line players.

Even if Roslovic is a net nothing on the first line, he just needs to not be a liability. Play good defense, wear down the opposing d with a speedy forecheck, hopefully chip in some opportune goals.
