I'm happy they actually had a good season and qualified for the playoffs, they haven't made the playoffs but once since 2012, which was 2015, Benning's first year.

They did have the qualifying round thing in 2020 but I don't think they would have made the playoffs that year without that...so it's not a real playoff year for them IMO. It was for the teams that actually qualified for the playoffs, like Tampa, Boston, St. Louis, Colorado, Washington, etc.

Boeser agrees.

He had a great game last night.
The way some carry on about how much he signed his new contract for, you would think that they were paying part of his salary. Most fans would be happy to have a player like him to build a team around, yet they keep bringing up the $. I guess if there’s nothing to complain about it just doesn’t feel right to them.

for some reason people want to compare what players are/will make..

Yes JT Miller is having a slightly better season than Petey and is making less.... but in 3 years, i bet you Petey will be easily out-producing Miller.

Similar thing is happenign with Hronek and Hughes.. Some are suggesting that Hronek cant earn more than Hughes next season. Why not? Hughes signed his contract when he did.. and when it is up, he will get a lot more than what Hronek is going to get this offseason. If both Hughes and Hronek's contracts were up at the same time, then yes, Hronek cannot make more than Hughes..

Got a good chuckle last night during post game interview with Pouty,

Reporter asks him about being around the net for 3 goals, 2 during the PP, Pouty responds by saying well I am the net front presence right now, so

Can't remember how he finished off as I was busy laughing. Good response by Pouty, kid is starting to grow up.

Miller on playoffs:

“You don’t get it until you experience it. It’s just the facts,” said the Canucks centre. “We can talk about the right things to do, but it’s until it actually happens to you. What I’ve learned in my playoff experience is an astronomical amount. I had no idea what was going on.

“I learned what it takes and you have to go through and experience it.”

Miller also knows that the Canucks have earned their lofty status and shouldn’t lose their way because the second half of the season has been a tougher slog. The hunters became the hunted and playoff-style matchups down the stretch bode well for sharpening their game.

“With the amount of talent and the way our group plays, there’s no reason why we can’t go in there (playoffs) with the standard we’ve played to,” stressed Miller. “We’ve proved we can play with anybody in the league when we’re on our game, and that’s all I worry about.”

Tocc on the last couple weeks about him harping about the playoffs:

“A couple of weeks ago, I was probably the main culprit,” Tocchet admitted Monday. “I wanted guys to understand the next level and what it’s going to take and I was pounding that in their heads. After a while, I had to stop doing that because we were really successful this year with the day-to-day.

“If you start to talking too much that way as a head coach then guys get nervous and antsy. The message is worry about today.”

This is a solid post, if they don’t like a player maybe make the point of why and then discuss why in an intelligent conversation.
How absolutely childish it is to continually mock something no one here had any input into, 11.6, 11.6, Bambi, 11.6, Bambi, a few here need to grow the (frank) up, it isn’t sarcasm, it isn’t comical, it is purely childish and in my mind speaks to the character and lack of intelligence to belong in a societal environment.

Another solid post,

Seems the fans of other teams are more grounded than our own.

Really it's only Vantel, Lordy and Reuby, you're talking the bottom of the gene pool here, LOL....well, Reuby has come around on both Hughes and Pettersson, so good on him for understanding young players need to grow into great players. The talent was always there, they just had to round out their games to be more complete.

Great all around game. Nice to see the powerplay go, they tightened up the d in the 3rd and all the big players played well. Love to see it!

With the gauntlet of powerhouse teams in the West, unlikely this season. Canucks a little too green.

It's unfair of you to generalize like that, HB doesn't represent Canucks nation as a whole, and, there's some solid posters in here. Some have left because of the whiners, but there's still some good posters in here.

The first round can be the hardest round to get through, personally I'd be happy with just making the second round for this young'ish team (star players). Getting rid of Kuzzy and adding Lindholm should help tremendously, you don't win with pond hockey in the playoffs, which is the only way Kuzzy knows how to play and why he drove Tocchet crazy.

Think it was Drance that was writing about it the other day, and he had an interesting angle on Kuzy. Basically Tocc's system is about possession and not making high risk plays to get caught on odd man rushes (as the Canucks don't have the most mobile D).. Kuzy makes a lot of high risk plays/passes and wasn't a fit to that kind of thinking, especially when they were entering the offensive zone.

Plus sending him packing saved the Canucks 5 million dollars next year to better allocate to someone who can play "the right way".

I wasn’t really meaning Reuby, but I think you missed Nighty, Nutsack and sometimes Darius. It’s really been beaten t o death.
