His last year in Dallas was really good. Not sure what the Rangers got but it wasn't that.

I thought his 2011-12 Ranger season was really good. 66 points for the system Torts put in was very solid and he was good in playoffs too

Yeah, but if the bottom 6 can tread water I think they have the right ingredients. Flawed teams do win it all. Panarin is unreal and can carry them. Zib is capable of it too. Fox just needs to be Fox.

Fox has quietly (not here necessarily, just in general) been Norris level probably since he got healthy. He’s been ridiculous for awhile now

Yeah, I was still hoping for a PPG player. But I was OK with that start.

How awful was it to see Torts run Gaborik out and for him to eventually end up with LA? They had some of the firepower they needed, just wasn't working together. Brassard was obviously a big part of that team and was turned into Zibanejad so can't really complain.

Despite his Norris win season I'm not sure he is regarded high enough around the league.

I’d have felt much more confident with this team vs LA that year than the team that played them. Much more of a chance with these guys in so many ways

There is just a few guys who are better. It’s nothing against him. Makar and Josi are just generational basically so they get all the attention. Hughes now too

Overall I am a Torts fan. He can really work magic and get a team to overachieve. But I don't think he is the right match for how some teams are constructed. I don't think he can run a high flying offense like the team has now.

Going in I was hopeful but it was just obvious they were missing the offensive punch needed to secure a cup.

All those guys play so much faster than Fox so they are shown in all the highlights. But in terms of hockey sense Fox is probably top 5 in he league.

I don't think Josi is a generational talent. Makar is the only one in that realm.

What makes Fox so good is his brain. And vision. He doesn’t have that typical slap shot you want or the speed you want, but he has knack of being so elusive and smart that other guys don’t have. Hes a step ahead of a would be checker seems like all the time

Come PO time I think cuylle wennberg and kakko will be very good. North south line that hopefully scores some dirty area goals
- nyrangers2

I agree. They play well together. Lots of support and good puck decisions. Cuylle has made some mistakes, but has the tenacity and speed to make up for a lot of them.
Let's face it, that 3rd line of PBZ was a rarity. Like Tampa's 4th. When they happen, they are spectacular. But, incredibly difficult to manufacture.

But that was my point. They line change the complexion of that team. It was possible for 2 lines to be off on a given night, but the other line would pick up the slack.

On this current version of the team if Laf, Trocheck, Panarin and Kreider aren't going, it's tough to score goals.
