Define leafs will block ? They have 1 vote. I don’t think 1 vote can block. Maybe they can. I was speaking in terms of what makes sense. Although I do agree leafs would try to block. Money grab

I believe all franchises have a territory protection….ie a team can be placed within a certain amount of KMs….(for the American miles)

I don’t think those protections apply to expansion. Surely they are considered. When expansion comes up Hamilton Ontario was brought up and discussed affecting leafs AND Sabres. Something like 10-15% of Sabres season ticket holders are from Hamilton area if I recall but it was blocked by protection of area

Still can’t figure out why Quebec isn’t an option to move there. They’ve got a larger population than salt lake and an arena already built. I’m not a fan of any of the Canadian teams but since Bettman took over, no Canadian team has won. Many Canadian fans blame him

Most of those Canadian fans are already watching some other team, buying their apparel, travelling occasionally to see games. The same is not true for the US fan in the south, say. If there is no team in his neck-of-the-woods, he will not watch.

So an underopulated area could add more new viewers than a more populated area, and thus add more revenue.

Was talking about this earlier this morning up at the cottage….of course we are all for immigration as we all are 2-3 or maybe only 4th generation. But to allow people in that offer nothing in the way of tax dollars while still using the social programs and health care system. It’s one of the major reasons our health care system struggles. I agree 100% that there aren’t many better places to live than in Canada….we have laws…we have safety. We have no wars on our doorstep. Like I said to my Daughters after the last election….I didn’t vote for tha ass clown…but the guy with the most votes won….and that should always be celebrated and protected.

Far from contributing nothing, all your parties, and every economic report (left, right, or center) have agreed on one thing. Immigration is not an act of kindness of Canada to the less well off in the world. It is essential to Canada's economy. You guys benefit.

Sure, they could use help in the early stages. But so does every company that grows to contribute later on. That is why you have venture capitalists.

Gave you thought of that initial assistance as a form of social venture capital from the government? Small investment now leading to large returns later?
