He’s a great steward/stooge for the owners.
- Minnyhock

Let's face it... none of the owners are in it for the love of the game. It's all about money and the prestige.

Gary's been great for them.

Many fans don't like him but he has been a tremendous commissioner for the league.

Do I watch the Phillies or the Sixers tonight? tough choice. Probably the Sixers. Plenty for Phillies season left.

As I remember the Flyers wanting to pick Sanguinettti was talked about during the TV draft show commentators. That’s just my memory but I do remember hearing that story but as Richie Asburn said “never let the facts get in the way of a good story”
Not that is such a good story

- Hosher12

Paul Holmgren, Dennis Patterson, Simon Nolet and Chris Pryor all said to Jay Greenberg in Flyers at 50 interviews that Sanguinetti would not have been the pick. Berglund was the next name on their BPA list.

Funny story, though: Even after Homer told Tim Panaccio that, Panotch STILL insisted the Sanguinetti story was the accurate version and Homer had it wrong

It's damn sad that this clown stands to make over a billion dollars when the Coyotes are sold (if all of the rumors are true).

Yea, that's the league and who he works for. The players are employees.

And the fans, as Logan Roy would say, are just economic units.

Thank goodness. I don’t have to listen to Cutter for President, Commissioner, MVP, God, etc. for the next 5 months!

Still can’t figure out why Quebec isn’t an option to move there. They’ve got a larger population than salt lake and an arena already built. I’m not a fan of any of the Canadian teams but since Bettman took over, no Canadian team has won. Many Canadian fans blame him

Agreed! We attended a couple of Flyers games in Quebec City back in the early 1990's...building was full and it was a great atmosphere, but let's feed the game to southern folks to help grow the game. WTF! It's a joke that you have a professional hockey team playing in a 5,000 seat arena, but somehow Buttman wants his sun belt teams.

If Quebec got a team back I guarantee Roger’s or bell who own sportsnet and tsn respectively would pay to have them covered. It wouldn’t t be as lucrative as a us deal but how is it a less viable option than salt lake .. a city of 200 k?ffs. I think it is shown to be a better option than zona.

They were the first team I remember watching with my dad as a kid. First flyers games I remember were in the semis in 85. I also followed the team closely when hextall was there and have since spent a lot of time there for work. It’s a wonderful city of you ever get a chance to visit. They now have videoteon arena which is suitable for an nhl team.

I haven’t been following this, but you’re talking about Salt Lake City, right? In Utah? That’s not southern. The area is known for it’s great skiing. They had the Winter Olympics there.

Oh yeah, we were there twice for 5 days at a time and we loved it. The second time the Flyers played there was during their winter carnival. It was a bit nippy, but what a gorgeous town and the local folks were very friendly.

I'm well aware of what Utah is, but I'm just saying that team should have been moved a long time ago. And now they are talking about trying to put a team in Atlanta again...WTF! I'm a weather geek and very familiar with geography. Thanks!

SLC is growing fast.

And it's about the media footprint and keeping the conferences balanced.

And more teams in Canada doesn't win any new hearts and minds. And with the weak Canadian dollar and the high salary floor QC will struggle sooner or later.

Agreed, a team in Quebec doesn't make sense. They need to grow new markets.
