That’s kinda odd. Not sure I’d peg any guys on this team as big partiers. We all knew Carter used to be but doubt he still is as a family man in his 60s
- Victoro311

It was supposedly the rookie dinner. They canceled one practice while they were there, and apparently EK was so hungover he missed the next practice.

That's the story Madden and Yohe discussed.

With Utah getting a team, think they’ll feel pressure to make some moves to make them “appealing” to fans.

I feel like it could be a destination Reilly Smith could be traded to if Utah decides they want to compete. Hell, maybe they’d even take Jarry

- drummer829

Nah. Utah will be stoked enough the first couple years.

The drinking/partying could explain why they looked lethargic in some games. It could be another reason why the players probably don't want a coach change.

Swayman's an RFA though right?

Rookie dinner makes sense. Don’t know much about any of those guys. EK kinda shocks me though.

Are any of the rookies old enough to drink in Vegas? Calgary/edmonton would make sense for that.

Ludvig is the youngest guy on the team and he's 23. The Pens are old.

He's a family man right? Probably doesn't get to drink anymore and had like 5 drinks in Vegas and couldn't move the next day.

The Vegas flu strikes again! I remember the first year there were stories of lots of players enjoying the night life too much the night before.

Due to not having any touted prospects, all of our "rookies" are adults that have been in the AHL for a while.

Probably longer than that. 4 years might be rock bottom.

Agree we'll be trending downward for a while. At least we are competitive for a playoff spot now, much worse days ahead and no first this year. Can't rebuild around just Yager and Blumquist.

Guentzel has been house shopping in the Triangle.
- BINGO!

The more I think about it, the less I want the Penguins to resign him. I think that ship has sailed. It'd be best for him and us if he goes and cashes in somewhere and we focus on the future.

How’s the cap looking in your opinion?

Necas and Jarvis probably looking at pretty serious raises as well as Jake.

I was listening to a podcast interview with Andre Roy recently. He said he came to Pittsburgh and it was like a country club. So many high esteem vets on the team and Eddie O just let them do whatever. Practice, not practice. Breakouts? Systems? You guys know to play hockey. Then Terrien came in and crushed it all. That’s what this team needs.

Feels like this all checks out. I always feel like some vets, especially on Defense were being way too arrogant and entitled ... why would a $10M defenseman pinch when the team has the lead? I am sure as heck not telling him to do that if I am the coach. Why would a $7M defenseman cough up the puck at the blue line on the PP by being too cutesy with it? Does he feel like the opp's forward are not going to bull rush him?

Don't have to go back far at all - the last sequence of the year. The Pens pulled their goalie and have 6-5 vs the Isles. 7.1 seconds left. Sid wins the draw. The puck eventually goes to EK. What does he do? He is trying to deke instead of launching one towards the goal. If that is not a case of "I don't give a damn"-ery, I don't know what is.

hahaha yeah, and the longer and longer you go without drinking the harder it is on you, especially as you get older. If you get drunk once a year its like a shock to the system. I've tried a vast array of drugs, and substances, in my life and for me I think booze is one of the heaviest on the system.

I remember one of the beat guys talking about how Bylsma once told him that Geno was a "yeller". Dan was a little afraid to piss him off lol. This was after Dan got fired. It was a discussion about how hard it is to discipline superstars.

I can remember my Dad telling me when I was young that he heard, or read somewhere, that Bowman said trying to get Mario, Jagr and Coffey to change their games was like trying to teach wolves table manners haha no idea if it was true but doesn't sound that far fetched.

Jarvis for sure. Necas might be trade bait if they can get Jake signed.

At least one of Pesce or Skjei is walking, maybe both. And i think they're going to try and trade Kotkaniemi.

They've got $28 Million in space heading into next season. I expect they'll be tight to the cap again very quickly.
