Keefe getting canned is just a buffer for Tree, who's probably on a short leash, the same length as Shanny.

New CEO coming in isn't going to clean house yet, because it's a bad look and would have a negative impact in the eyes of other owners, and in the GM market.

Tree has seen this team close-up for a year, has a ton of cap space, and can now hire the coach he wants, and has the time to do it.

I don't think it'll be Berube, personally.

The Oilers and Leafs should figure out a trade involving Marner and Nurse.

Two good players with huge contracts that need a change.

That is all alleged, not proven. Because these events and timelines are disputed and there are multiple sides of this story.

Again, "learned what happened" is in actuality an allegation a week before the Stanley Cup Final. And at no time was Quenneville the most senior or most powerful person in those "meetings". That was upper management's responsibility from that point and moving forward. It wasn't Quenneville's responsibility to decide what was supposed to happen, it was on the GM and above him, the President. They had the deciding power, not Quenneville especially because they knew more than he did and spent more time on the matter than he did.

Even if what you are saying is 100% true and accurate (it isn't), it still isn't worthy of a lifetime ban and denial of a 2nd chance to coach again. He quit his job, he's been away from the NHL for a long period of time and now he should be allowed to return under the condition he takes precautions to never make the same mistake again. If anybody is absolutely not going to make that same mistake twice, it's going to be Quenneville, especially in this market where he'll be forced to take every re-education sensitivity training known to the Western world.

You say that but you don't seem to want to practice it. He's by far the best qualified coach available and while he may have made a mistake in the past, there shouldn't be very much concern about his character if he's going through a rigorous process to not make the same mistake again.

Here’s what’s known: Quenville urged management not to do anything about the allegations while the team was on a playoff run. As a result Aldridge was allowed to stay around the team and around Beach. Almost all of the participants in that meeting are gone from the NHL.

I’m fine with him getting a second chance and being allowed to coach. That doesn’t mean that a team can’t decide he’s a piece of poop and not want to hire him as their coach.

That they thank keefe for his years of service
Some blah, blah,blah

And say they are diligently looking for a new coach and direction with a core they believe in.

Gonna assume that was meant to be "in balance", as it pretty much already was in imbalance.

Sitting here and reading all the “Tavares isn’t worth the money”, “it was a bad contract to begin with”, “that signing derailed our rebuild plans”, “he’s dead weight” comments is so fun. You all jẽrked each other as soon as that signing happened.

I tend to skew towards your line of thinking. Quenneville is absolutely the best coach available, if he's ever available to coach again. That said, is he going to be the best coach available in markets where the media scrutiny never stops asking him sexual assault and sexual harassment questions? Probably not.

That said, I do hold that while Quenneville could have handled it better, McDonough holds almost all of the responsibility here, with Bowman playing the second fiddle. McDonough said he'd handle it. I'm not sure as a subordinate two levels down from the President, it's Q's responsibility.

It’s almost always about the goaltending.
- shack67

Or is it actually about being able to score more than 2 goals - since so far in round 2 all the teams who are winning are getting 2 or more goals from their forwards?

IMO the reality is it's both but goaltending alone isn't the magic bullet.

If your team can't score 3 you will lose playoff games more often than you win them regardless of how great your goalie plays.

If your goalie gives up soft goals you will lose more often than you win in playoff games.

I think if you can get 3 or more goals and average goaltending your in a better position than if you get incredible goaltending and 2 (or less as that's what the Leafs have averaged the last 2 series) goals per game.

Just my opinion.
