Two terrible losses in a row at home, getting outscored 11-2 in the process. During the rough couple of months to begin 2022 i thought the Caps would not make the playoffs. A strong March gave me some hope but it now appears the hope was misplaced. The Caps have one of the hardest schedules remaining and they just don't seem to have it in them to play a consistent game night in and night out. It would not surprise me in the least to see NY catch them and bounce the Caps from the playoffs. Maybe that would be better anyhow...just get the season over and avoid the usual early exit.

Isles fan here. Caps fans should not be too worried yet. Isles' recent run has come against mostly mediocre competition (with the exception of two recent wins at Madison Square Garden). Isles on the road against Stars, Canes, and Blues this week. If they go 2-and-1, and Caps struggle against Tampa & Pittsburgh, then maybe it becomes a race.

If Caps go 6-and-7 in their last 13, they would get to 96 points. For Isles to get to 96 points, they would have to go 11-2-1. Not likely.
