Moving McLean to Iowa doesn't mean Guerin wasn't still looking at changing the asst coaches. This gives him the chance to bring in someone he thinks will improve the big club. I don't know much about McLean, so I am hoping this is a good move. But being the head coach in Iowa is not a move to running your own systems. I liken it to the difference in Squirts to PeeWees to Bantams and so on. In Iowa, the head coaches main job is to start integrating the young players into the systems that are played with the main club. Here is Duluth, we had a high school coach that a lot of people really disliked, in Mike Randolph. But teams were ALWAYS going to state and actually won a few state titles. The thing that Randolph did is he went to the lower levels (all the way to mites and squirts) and said, "this is the system this kids will play in high school...at this level, this is all you need to teach them"....and at each level, then were ingrained with another aspect of "the system". And that is the job at Iowa, learn the system inside and out, so it's second nature once they reach the big club.

And now there is an opening with the asst coaching ranks for Guerin to find someone that can help improve where the Wild need the most help...at least from a systems standpoint. They still need an elite C, which is NOT going to come through mastering the system, it will need to be God-given talent. Do I expect the Wild to make a Cup run in the next 2-3 years, no. But they will be more than competitive during that time and hopefully the plan comes to fruition beginning with year 3 and there is a Cup run (and win) in 3-5 years.

Vegas needs to give Fletcher a ring. He gave up Haula and Tuch to save Dumba. Haula turned into Roy(11 pts in 21 PO games) and Tuch turned into Eichel.

I don't know that attempting to copy any team is the way to win as if you look at the past few winners, each team has different strengths.
I'll say this about Vegas. They don't have a dominant goal scorer. They didn't have any players score 30 goals. They didn't have any player reach 70 points. They won with what, their 3rd goalie? What they did have is a lot of depth and a solid team game.

Heard a rumor that Yzerman has an offer he's going to present to Dumba when the market opens. Haven't seen him play much. Hoping he would add a nice combination of skill / grit to Detroit's blue line. Would you say he's still in his prime at age 28 ???

Copying another team's successful system is completely ridiculous and stupid because it is only the system to copy until a different successful system becomes 'THE' system. Generally the team that can play their system the best and impose it on the other team wins, which is a combo of system and the players capabilities within it.

I really hope the trap never comes back

Dunba is a nice role player now. He will end up getting overpaid on this next contract. He does try to play a physical game, but the problem is he tends to get hurt doing that. He'll be a slightly below average 2nd pairing, or a good player as the 3rd pairing.
