Yawn. This almost seem like an action bias move. Maroon’s production dropped big time last season. A cheap Reaves replacement that doesn’t move rhe needle.

Just Tampa clearing room to get their free agents signed. They're definitely stepping back this year. Too many big contracts with term for players around 35. They'll be a bubble team this year. Boston too is stepping back, but they should be better than Tampa. The Atlantic went from being the toughest division in hockey, to probably number 3 in the league.

Yeah, TB gets some cap relief and sending the minor leaguer frees up a contract slot. But Maroon just takes up a roster spot that a young player with more speed could develop in. Not forward thinking at all by Guerin.

Great locker room guy.

A total pylon on the ice.

Realistic expectations for the Wild this year? Bubble playoff team?

Sometimes I think ‘great locker room guy’ is a euphemism for a guy who makes you feel good about losing.

He'll fight anybody, even if he loses. He gets credit for dancing with Chara. He's a great agitator, but he's slow and not very good with the puck. I will miss his antics though. Other teams haaaaate him, but he's not cheap like Perry. Just an annoying pooptalker and poopstarter.

He won't fight anybody be real. He waits until there's an official between him and the other guy before he talks poop. And on occasion he will agree to get beat up.

I would have preferred to keep Reeves. He's more physical and even though its a small amount, still had better offensive production.

Come to think of it, most of his fights are just hugging and flailing around. Doesn't land many punches. He's just so big that he usually ends up on top if both fall to the ice.

He can beat the H. E. Double Hockey Sticks out of a Big Mac though.

True dat. It was a comment not pointed specifically at Maroon. I get tired of hearing about good locker room guy for every veteran who’s decrepit and uses his faded rep to block a roster spot from someone who doesn’t suck on the ice.

No. This was Tampa just trying to do right by a guy who can't keep up with them anymore.

Tampa is still on the hook for 200k of his salary. If they had just sent Maroon to the minors, his cap hit would have disappeared entirely.

I agree with you on that. I think Maroon still has some left in the tank though.
