Boston should not make the same mistake as others. They have had a good run but it is time to restock the cupboard by trading proven talent (aging) and bring back picks and/or high end prospects. Know when to say when

THIS! Absolutely this. Window is now closed, time to build another what I hope another long term competitive run.

Trade all of their bad players for McDavid and a 5th.
Then do something else.
Then win the Cup.

Not all that complicated guys.

This will be a transition year. Unless a trade for a top center makes sense, I would agree with just standing pat and seeing how your roster shakes out. They need more young talent, and as much as I would love for them to do a teardown and only keep the essential players in order to rebuild, I know it wont happen that way.

Most likely course of action I can see from Sweeney and the boys is more of the same from previous years. Going to let their roster play out until the TDL or close to it, then try to swing a deal for a center and attempt to give that player a long term contract. Kinda like they did with Lindholm.

Or how about this... Trade DeBrusk and Frederic to us Ducks for picks and prospects...then take some of said pieces and deal with Flames.

Or you can just send Zegras over. No need for a second trade.

Agree 100%. Even without Bergeron, and even Krejci, this team is still competitive. They have great goaltending (even if they only keep one), great defense, and still have some prolific forwards. I'm not expecting it, but Krejci could return and we are talking about a significant difference in outlook. But again, even if he doesn't, the Bruins are still going to be competitive.

There is NO WAY management is going to blow up the team this year during the centennial season (nor should they).

I think they already said they wont blow it up period. Its more retooling. We will see how it goes.

I dont expect Krejci back either. I am expecting that after Frederic and Swayman get contracts, that the roster is set and they are going to push for competition at camp. I am very curious to see how the lines shape up and if they will have any pleasant surprises.

Supposedly the bruins have been talking to the ducks about Zegras 🤔 and to a lesser extent Mactavish.

Losing Bergeron is obviously a massive blow but a team that still has David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy in their primes (plus a couple more years of a still very effective Marchand) is not a team that should be blowing itself up and rebuilding.

Obviously don't go full Ken Holland and try to replace your legendary two-way superstar center by throwing a trillion dollars at whoever the 2023 equivalent of 32-year-old Frans Nielsen is, but it seems to me like the right play here is to at least try to retool, not rebuild.

As much as the Bruins and Ducks like to trade with one another, I dont see them parting ways with either one of those guys.

Place your hopes on late 30's centers with high mileage on them by crossing your fingers that they don't retire. Draft reaches with your 1 rounders and ignore that glaring freight train of no top 6 centers coming at you for half a decade.

The rest of the EC is grinning like a Cheshire Cat. That being said, cheers to Patrice on a certain HOF career. Classy, classy player.

The mercy here is that there is no cap space for Sweeny to get all Backes on us again.

The shambling corpse of Eric Staal is still available. Can probably get him for league minimum if we promise him first line minutes.

Hey, Eric Staal got one second-place vote for the Selke last year, somehow. So at least one person who gets paid to write about hockey presumably thinks he'd make an acceptable poor man's Bergeron if given first line minutes.
