Cool.

Interesting stuff Sean, thanks

Let's hope now that our GM gives this new coach, and system, some solid players to surround what we've already got!

I said all along they would be fine if they could get adequate goaltending. If you put Campbell back out there, they would tank again. To that point, I would differentiate between defense and goals allowed. Plenty of times those are not the same thing even if the outcomes are related.

12 in a row! Again 2 goals down and the team fights their way back led by Leon.

This team never quits.

It's pretty great to see! Hopefully they add a few pieces and make a run for it.

Disagree with this. Not saying I want to see Campbell back out there, but the team left the goalies out to dry while Woodcroft was in charge this year. Wasn't until the team bought into a defensive structure that the tending started to look decent. Painfully obvious just by looking at Skinners splits. There were so many odd man rushes, players left open out front, Oil chasing the play all over. If Campbell was called up now to play Pickards minutes, it wouldn't bother me one bit.

Oil have been lucky with health this year though, I wonder is the defensive structure holds up if one of the big pieces misses a chuck on time, and the lines all have to get juggled.

I won't waste time going through the metrics spelling it out in crayon since 90+% of fans are too ignorant to grasp it. I will add Campbell has been the worst Bakersfield goalie as well and Skinner also continued to suck in his early games with Knoblauch against TBL and CAR. I'm sure you'll attribute that to the team "adjusting" to the new system.

Lol, I am afraid that I will need you to pick up your Crayolas and spell it out for me; no cursive please, and maybe use all caps and bold so it is visible through my ignorance. I am not entirely sure what you are saying then, are you inferring that Skinner was just crap then, but now he is good? Or maybe that there is a different mustache behind the mask now, and we didn't notice they changed. And that Picard is a solid NHL option.

I have absolutely zero love for Campbell, but the crap start to this season was on the players more than the goalies, in my ever ignorant opinion.

How did Skinner do in the playoffs last year? His reg season had many of us intrigued... Then he poop the bed. That 913/217 looked good once there. His 883/368 while there not so much.

Woodcroft was there for 13 games. Large enough sample to see the team. EDM was not uniquely bad defensively. The problem was their goalies sucked. Reminds me of fans this year claiming Carolina isn't the same defensive team because most fans can't differentiate goals allowed = bad defense. Goalies are as important in the NHL as a quarterback in the NFL, but with goalies they are much less predictable. In both leagues, it's impossible to contend with far below average play at the position.

According to some, they can. 4-3 Flames, Markstrom’s back.

According to Daily Faceoff Vladar is starting. Besides, would you really want the Oilers to break Marky again?

If the Oil win #13 in a row tonight it would break the records for longest win streak by a Canadian team and the longest win streak by a Western Conference team.

No, Beergu is exactly right. It has never truly been a goaltending issue. It has always been a defensive mindset issue of the players, and I would argue especially for the run n gun fwds on the Oilers.
(Why do all of the sh1tty debaters always mention "I won't waste my time/breathe? And crayons? By all means you mental genius! Please spell it out for all of us simple common folk beneath you! F7n idiot).

I was hoping. He needs to beat the Oilers or there’s no sense keeping him. It’s the Bob Johnston coaching philosophy, beat the Oilers at all costs.

Haven’t been on here in forever. Couldn’t remember any of my usernames or passwords and then it just clicked in my brain lol. Not much action in here anymore.

Going for 13 tonight. Suck it Calgary. Suck it harder than Jero in the bathroom of the Greenhouse in the 90’s.

Anyone remember when all the leafs fans were chirping Oilers fans about the standings just 2 weeks ago about the Oilers being about 7 points back and not having a chance at even catching them let alone the playoffs?
