"How long are we supposed to endure this? Despite all of this failure we have not seen any prospect get a chance besides Ryan Johnson and Benson. Kulich sits and waits to take a shot on net. The season is lost and we put Okposo on the first line. What are we hanging on to here?"

Tenacious competitor.

Relentless compete.

Sabres badly need a talented player at forward like this.

They had him, and let him get away.

Can they do what Tampa did and find a player or players like this (Nick Paul is another example) and add them to their team to properly round out their roster?

Another player with relentless compete.

They are out there.

They will not be cheap to acquire.

The Sabres need to pay up for the high impact a player like that would have on the roster.

Well stated...I think most, if not all of us have lost patience with this bullship 20 year rebuild. That idiot Pegula needs to fork up the dollars and get some real coaches to get both teams to the next level of winning a championship. He gives these coaches far too many chances and never brings in anyone with some real experience. Amateur hour in Pegulaville.

He would be a nice add, of course the Old "Why Would He Come To Buffalo" question will arise.
IMO Adams has to use this TDL to show some of these Players that will be UFA's this offseason that he is really trying to WIN. He needs to make a splash or we are going to keep asking that Question or it will be another Eric Johnson in the offseason.

The not want to be here defense commentary to the bad moves they had made with UFA signings is an excuse.

The real problem was called out properly here:

>>> You can still bring in pieces as a bottom tier organization if you find untapped value, but they seem to be using personal connections in player acquisitions rather than their analytics department

Of course you can, but they don't. And unfortunately players not wanting to play in Buffalo isn't a excuse! It's a Truth

It's an excuse in terms of them consistently bringing in mediocre to bad players.

One of the key positive aspects of analytics is being able to unearth diamonds in the rough, to bring players like that in and give them a greater opportunity.

Finding players like that and giving them the opportunity is how you get players to be loyal to your organization, and spread the word about the quality of your organization.

Instead, they bring in dollar store signings who stink, in favor of personal connections.

That has to stop, or this decade of poop will never end.

I'd almost guarantee there is a growing disconnect between someone like Ventura and others in the Org.

Another quality forward who produces in a multitude of ways, and us extremely difficult to play against.

Why can't the Sabres identify and bring in players like this?

How much would it take to bring in a player like this?

You know my feelings on Ventura and his Crew. I don't think Adams uses Ventura fully IMO. We have drafted Well, but it's basically been one mold of player with a dash of size. That's a one thought process to me, no variety of choice. I would actually like to see Ventura take over as GM.

Vegas is on my Trade list or Teams to look at for Trades. Few players I wouldn't mind getting.

From their perspective, they seem like an intelligent organization that would put a high trade valuation on a highly effective, productive effort player like Cotter on a tremendous value contract (he's making less than $800K for another 2 seasons after this one).

In short, they wouldn't trade him for less than an inflated return.

Sabres need to find their own guys like this.

When looking around the league at what other teams have done in identifying high effort, battle winning type players, it's even more frustrating to see what the Sabres have done in that regard. Infuriating, even.

These are the value of mid round picks. Finding a Girgensons is fine, in the 4th round. I still like Tyson Kozak.

Very true, but they have decisions coming with Theodore, Carrier and Eichel coming back from IR. It's a Long Shot but it's still a Team I would Call. They have some FA's next year too.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing the Sabres give him a look. 4 or 5 players I would like to see get a few games. Give them some things to Think about and what they need to work on for Camp.

Those players seem in an abundant enough supply league wide that it's infuriating the Sabres continue to be unable to identify and bring those players in.
