Karine Hains: In Hainsight: Deficient Defensive Coverage Leads to Loss The Canadiens were in the game until the very end, but a defensive error led to the Capitals’ game-winning goal.

I know some people would like to see a tank for a higher pick, but i would rather see them end with a .500 record this year. Better for good dev.

As for the game I have a few thoughts.

- Allen looked better than his other games, but still super subpar. That incident with the lazy pass from him was killer. He will be moved, but not for anything of value.

-Slaf looked super confident last night. I really noticed him.

-I will miss Savard if they deal him

-Armia was strangely present and effective last night.

Teams are fighting to get into the playoffs, habs players know its over. But there is no tank, not the way fans think when it comes to a tank. Look at last night, did they threw the god damn game away or were they pushing to tie the game near the end? Pushing to tie it but yet, they lost.

They dont need to tank, they will lose more than they will win for whats left of the season. Its not a choice, they are not there just yet.

from last night, how it is unlikely Hughes can add 2 top6 players for next season...

what if a team is ready to overpay for Savard+ ? what if Hughes can get a good young prospect, à la Dach?
then he adds another one at the draft with his picks and d prospects.

not impossible. not a sure thing either I know.

They wont trade Matheson or Savard before this year TDL. You can all forget about that bad fantasy.

The young d not being ready is why they keep losing 9-4, 7-4, 4-3, etc.

oh I agree they have a lot of value for our team, but if a GM is ready to overpay... one of them is gone imo.

I think they like and believe in Newhook more than you do. I agree with them, that guy has skills.

Both him and Dach will play big next season.

While I do think they need another top 6 for Dach / Newhook next year, they need another middle 6 type player that can step up and play top 6 in case of injuries.

After next year, it will be time to really asses what the top 6 looks like and make the needed changes.

(assuming no one is injured most of the year, again.)

I dont see Bedard coming our way or a team overpay

They are safe for now

Im starting to wonder if they might be able to move Armia. I dont mind him all that much this season anyway. If they dont move Allen before TDL, Hughes can retain some$$ on that contract if he wants to do so

Unless you meant a C, both RHP and Roy should be there for that. Kids need to play anyway.

But yes, they need to add a top 6 forward, I agree. And that guy should be able to play centre as well. I think Newhook might be best to stay on the wing if Dach goes down with an injury once again

The Sabres are taking calls on Mittelstadt, who can become an RFA this July. As TFP’s David Pagnotta reported, the Sabres are interested in a talent-for-talent swap and are not looking to move him for future assets. While this could be a move that happens in the summer, momentum could build between the time of this update and deadline day.

as much as I find he's been doing a very good job so far since he's been hired, I'm not sure how Hughes could get anything interesting out of that for the habs... even really desperate GMs aren't going to trade for Armia, with that salary and underwhelming numbers it just doesn't make sense.

they would get the spot and cap space, thats it my small but key internet friend

But Hughes would have to retain salary (half most likely)

Hey, he moved Dadonov and Mike (frank)ing Hoffman

The other thing to consider, as has been said above with defence, we cannot jettison all the vet players at once.

I know we got a packload of bottom 6, and that will play out next year, but there are some guys who will stay regardless either due to contract or will never be traded (ie: Gallagher fits both).

While this year was about development / growth (ie: 1st line, some of the D), next year will be about pruning. I expect to see a fairly large turnover int he bottom 6 and some of the kids/vets on D by the end of next season.

This time next year, we should have a good feel for what the team will look like goign forward.

but technically both those guys had more offensive upside, or at least the potential to put up better numbers than Yoelle lol

besides it isn't like there was currently a congestion of talent up front, the habs don't have that many forwards fighting for a spot on the roster right now, and I'm not sure the little cap space they would save after having to retain salary would be all that useful.

true, and it seems Armia is still a good example to follow for the younger guys, despite not being all that great on the ice at least he conducts himself like a pro. he didn't sulk when he was sent to Laval, and even put in the effort.

there were vague rumors about the habs having to take back Ryan Johansen from COL in order to trade Allen, but from what I understand they should stay away from that guy, as he would be more of an overpaid rotten apple. there's a reason why Nashville are still paying 4M a year so that they don't have him on their team lol.

caufield, suzuki, slaf
newhook, dach, joueur mystère
RHP, dvorak, Anderson
roy, evans, armia
pezetta

beubye Ylonen, mr Émile?

un peu limite apres un ou deux ajouts

edit : Gallagher sera de retour aussi, j'avais omis de l'insérer ds la formation. Y'a du traffic
