You don’t post poop for like a month, but you’re awfully quick on this one. LOL. Thanks.

What do u guys think the right move is for the Isles at the deadline? Trade more assets and try and grab that last spot? Or try and recoup some assets and move on to next year?

You are not asking the right question. The right question is when the Rags fall apart again what are they going to do?

Any "Well, hey, what are you complaining about, we got a point" statements from Lee this time?

The right move is to dump money for assets. But that won’t happen. Lou isn’t a sellers GM. I don’t think the isles are far off. Maybe 2-3 players, but this group isn’t it.

Had a few buddies over for the game yesterday. One a Ranger fan. Once Barzal took that penalty, he says to me, “you know the refs can turn this game into a shootout.”

Both those penalty calls were weak. The Isles Pk once again failed them, but the refs gave the Rangers the opportunities to tie it up.

Meh, the islanders have to take ownership for this one like so many other ones this season imo. This team hasn’t had it for a few years now. It’s time to accept that and move on from the thought that they are some contender(not saying you are I’m generalizing) that’s going to come alive if they can just squeak in. It’s laughable at this point.

I had the same reaction. Calls were weak but the isles had a 3 goal lead. It’s unacceptable. Welcome to the isles Patty Roy

As a player you have to know with a 3 goal lead late in the third the refs will more then likely have a quick whistle. You stay away from anything that may lead to call. Like always, Mayfield dove head first into it. It’s incredible. 😆

100%. Well said. I’ve been a supporter of mayfield over his tenure but he’s just not a smart hockey player. Mistake after mistake after mistake. It appears that he just doesn’t have the hockey IQ

Yeah I’ve always been a fan of his as well for what he is. A bottom pairing defenseman. It has become impossible for me to maintain that fandom though between this season and last. 😆

I still can’t wrap my head around signing him to a seven year contract. Insane.

Rumor has it he shut down his social media account. That’s weird. Just don’t read the comments. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah saw it also. Hate to see stuff like that but it comes with the territory. Guy has been absolutely terrible. Makes the same mistakes every, single, (frank)ing game. It’s like he’s completely unaware of it and thinks taking terrible penalties late in the game are a recipe for success. 😆

In fairness it’s not just him. The Dobson pass in OT which led to the goal was brutal. The d corp overall has regressed IMHO. In the past they made it a priority to bring in a steady vet dman. Surprised it hasn’t been a priority now.

I still like the idea of the refs letting the players decide in the 3rd period unless it's a really obvious call.

Yeah the team as a whole is making the same boneheaded mistakes when it’s time to close out a game. The thing is mayfield makes the same glaring mistakes just about every, single, game, at the same inopportune time. I don’t agree with these halfwits blasting him on a personal level by any means but the criticism has been earned at this point imo.

I hear what capt is saying, but your point is what my buddy was eluding to. You could tell the refs were going to go out of their way to do their best to give the Rangers a chance. Aside from hits, the Isles dominated all facets of the game. I generally don’t get upset with officiating, but too bad it came down to marginal calls.

You can call everything a penalty. You have to let the players decide and especially late in the game. A penalty parade is no fun and cheapens a great game.

This team folds during tough moments and makes dumb mistakes. This is not a mostly young team that you can understnd this mistakes. Fans should not blast any player on a personal level.

I’m not saying I agreed or disagreed with the calls but you have to find a way to close out a game with a three goal lead late in the third. This is not some new occurrence either this has been happening all season now with two different coaches. I agree a couple of the calls were weak but I’ll reiterate that it’s expected. That’s NHL officiating.

The real problem is the isles consistently put themselves in that same situation. It’s been tough to watch for a while now. I’m really happy to be mostly disconnected emotionally from the team this season. Kind of saw the writing on the wall during the off-season. 😂
