By selling off a number of assets, Dubas will pretty much guarantee a top 10 pick. Turns out to have been a pretty smart move when he made the EK deal.

I agree with the idea to get prospects instead of picks for Jake. Hopefully getting some younger players will allow us to fill in some roster spots with some cheaper younger options.

If we could have a successful trade deadline and successful offseason it could definitely help accelerate the retool/rebuild.

Gonna have to do more than trade away bottom 6 plugs.

According to CapFriendly the Pens have the option to keep or transfer the protected pick this year. Not sure I keep it just to keep it.

Thank you ryan..This is the exact artiicle I have been waiting for, and for alongggg time. This needs to be fixed or at least going in the right direction. This is getting tiresome, boring and redundant. Start the selling already and it should start with ridding all the coaches behind the bench, that would be 1st.

The Pens will likely be worse next season. Crosby and the rest of stars will all be a year older and the pool of prospects ready to contribute significantly is woefully shallow. The 2025 draft also looks to be better and deeper than the 2024 draft.

Might be better to give up a pick in 2024 that won’t be higher than 8th and more likely 10th and bank on a top ten pick in 2025.

Remember by points percentage, they’re actually 21st and would pick 12th right now.

Pens have always shown you who they are.

The real problem though is sully. Pitt needs a coach who controls the team, not vice versa. Torts would have bench nearly everyone by now not named Sid. Torts would wear thin but someone like him is needed.

Could some combination of D prospects like Drew Helleson, Tyson Hinds, Jackson Lacombe or F like - Jacob Perreault / Brayden Tracey work ??

It was one hell of a run. God i loved watching Crosby for years. That being said it's sunset time now i think. Leverage the assests they can into a proper replenishment.

I'm actually kinda excited to see what the next week brings.

Not like Sid and Geno are going anywhere but I've said it many times; I was a Pens fan long before them and will be long after them. Ready for the lean years but it is possible they're not that lean next season depending on what happens between now and next October. Seems like we're headed towards having a copious amount of cap space and I think management still wants to try and win for Sid and Geno, not totally fold.

Like I've said plenty of times, I'm not scared of the long painful rebuild. It's been a hell of an era. What I'm kind of apprehensive about is that things have gotten so bad that I can now very much see the core three asking out rather than retiring here, and that will make me sad. No one is having fun out there. Are they cool with doing this for three more years? Given the body language we've been seeing, I doubt it.

A minute left. Just get it out of the zone!

Awful pass by Graves. Letang was the support and wasn’t ready. That was almost like the empty net goal. Just No need for that play. Take the fücking icing if you need to. Like someone else said, stupid undisciplined play.

First time seeing Sid live and he was coasting for most of the night.

Smith was complaining to himself all game and looked like a crybaby.

The line changes were slower than a beer league game. Geno coasted the entire width of the ice while they had possession.

How can anyone say they’re a well coached team?

If I’ve learned one thing about Anaheim, it’s that the ducks know Dmen. I personally would be interested in helleson and hinds. Perrault.

Curious why gauthier has inked a deal yet? If he doesn’t like Anaheim I happily take him in a deal so he can play Philly 6 times a year and take over Sid’s mantle as the most hated player to enter Wells Fargo.

I agree that it seems all of the body language for this team shows a bigger picture. To be honest. I think this team would be ok with losing if we don't make the Karlsson trade in the offseason and start tearing things down a bit. I feel it's almost a false hope. They need to make up their minds and I think being a seller this deadline will close the door on the season and hopefully put less pressure on the core.

Watching Sid’s last 5-6 years be no playoffs doesn’t really sit well with me. I doubt it will sit well with him either. Not sure I’m down with watching Sid’s last playoff game ever 2 seasons ago. I wanted him to only be a penguin forever but when he’s still a top 15 player and going down like this it sucks to watch. If they were a comfortable wild card team 4 out of the 6 years that’s one thing but I don’t think it’s going up from here….

Just like mario did and he left at the perfect time. Let someother team worry about them. If they want out trade them. You got to do what's best for business (HHH) and that would surely help with cap, draft picks and a rebuild.. See Chicago if you want the opposite.

Will be interesting to see if there are any healthy scratches tonight. If Ned doesn't play it's a sure sign he is going.

Smith needs to be gone, don't care about the return just clear the cap space.
Jake trade needs to happen asap. Can't risk a couple unforseen trades leaving us hanging at the last minute.

Jarry and Rackell would be good to move also.

Big Karlsson trade could happen but more likely in the off-season.

Just so something interesting...

They need a young 2c and bump Malkin to 3c. He can’t hack it anymore. Or ship him out.

Ideally, we completely blow it up and try something new in the off-season. If we end up with a top 10 pick, that could turn into a contributor sooner than later. Lots of talent in FA to retool.

In the very least, I want Sid to get a stacked line and be able to put up points. Would love to see him somehow pass Jagr and get to the 2000 point mark.

They need a 2C to bump Malkin to wing IMO. Lindholm centering Malkin next year would be great.

Even with the worst teams, you usually see 2 maybe 3 trades happening at the TDL. You still need to ice a full team.

People expecting a 5 or 6-player retool at the TDL should prepare to be let down.
