Not that it probably made any difference in the outcome of the game, but who made the dumbass decision to send Ginning back down? You're on the road. Wouldn't you keep the extra defenseman in case something like that (Zamula sickness) happened? The game was ova when Ersson gave up that awful third goal, but one team was ready for the start of that game and one wasn't. Reminded me of the Giroux/Voracek era when the Flyers wouldn't be ready to start games. $hit happens...flush it.

Getting two points on a trip to Florida and TB is the best you can hope for. Those games happen. With the schedule they have, makes Tuesday's game at home against the worst team in the League a must win.

I think the Penguins and Devils are dead. Detroit is slumping 4 losses in a row. So even if the Islanders pass them they can still get a wild card.

I THINK they were trying to stay out of LTIR.

Caps will likely stick around as well. The cutoff should be right around 90 points.

2 of 4 on a tough Florida swing. Take care of business against San Jose. A burn the tape game against Tampa. A real test of games coming up after the sharks, really can’t fumble that one.

Couldn’t they have just demoted Brink on paper and then activated Ginning? Brink is waiver exempt, IIRC.

No matter how you slice it, not having a 7th D on a road trip was extremely poor planning.

Agreed, the Pens have quit. I still think the Devils have a chance, but they are on life support. The Caps are hangin around, but I still don't consider them to be a legit threat. Between the Isles and Flyers for that third spot. Gonna be tough with the upcoming schedule. They need to find a way to come out of this upcoming gauntlet with close to a .500 record. Good luck!

Couldn't they have just done the paper transaction? You see it all the time, assigned to the minors, but no games to play, so the player just stays with the big team, and gets "recalled" just before the next NHL game.

Yes, they could have papered Brink (who wasn't playing anyway) to the Phantoms and made an emergency recall of Ginning. Neither Ginning nor Lycksell were in the lineup for the Phantoms yesterday but it was said they couldn't get Ginning back down to Florida in time. I don't know the specifics.

Disagree about the Devils. Their goaltending is a disaster. They also have a pretty brutal schedule.

60 games in, they are what they are and that’s a bad team

That said, Flyers can't beat them. I think the Devils have 5 points in the 3 games they've played this year.

I believe it has to do with the emergency recall rules. Ginning was up on emergency recall. Once they acquired Erik Johnson, they at the time had 6 healthy defenseman. That meant that by rule they had to send Ginning back. Once Zamula became ill, there was no time to get Ginning back.

The Devils are done in my opinion. Jake Allen isn't enough to save their bacon. The Pens were done weeks ago.

Just forget about that game. On top of us not showing up in the first, the refs were terrible. I always say that you have to play though that but 3 of the calls and the quick trigger on tossing torts were absurd calls that could let a game get out of control. The refs made themselves the story and were so screwed up they announced a penalty on the wrong team ffs.

I know there are lots of torts haters here and there’s lots I don’t like about him but in the instance last night, I was perfectly fine with him calling out the refs. They had no thick skin and tossed him very quickly. I’d expect any coach we have to stand up to the refs and for his team in a situation like this.

I wonder how torts feels about all the 04 team players in the box having a beer and laughing at him. Not very classy act towards a guy who led you to a cup . Wes McCauley is a turd.

Finally. Wanted to add that I’d love to know how the team f ed up the d situation and sent a guy down while on the road meaning we had 5 d which comprised of 1 rookie, another guy playing his first game as a flyer while already shorthanded. Holy screwup guys.

Whatcha think of Torts initial refusal to leave the bench

Sticking up for your guys is one thing. He did a great job of that. That refusal will likely cost him a few nice dinners on the town.

They should definitely burn the part where vanilla Laughton is 2C and Frost is 4C. with the way Couturier is playing right now, Frost is their best C, regardless of how people feel about him. Tortorella just a brain dead coach
