Zak MacMillan: 3 goals on 4 shots in Montreal — Merzlikins Buyout?

Pretty much, to this day I ask myself what prompted Jarmo to give out an extension to Merzlikins , when he clearly showed he wasn't better than Korpisalo.

Tarasov is playing for a starting role and I hope it pays off for him.

HAH !! I hope it would pay off for the team !!
If he can continue to play for a season as he has for the past few weeks it would be a h-u-u-ge boost for the team. The D also has to stop making incredibly stupid plays like blind backward passes in their zone (Boqvist); and Bean idly standing around in front of the net ignoring the opposing forward next to him.

I don't know what to do about Elvis. Sometimes he looks like he's not "focused into" the game. Really doesn't want to be there. Maybe a trade this summer ???? Would have to throw in some sweetners.

I would prefer they trade him, eating 50% of his salary. That would be cheaper than a buyout.
At $2.7MM/yr it's closer to back-up pay on some teams. Most are lower though. Rough calculations are 50% @ 3yrs. = $8.1MM. Buyout - 67% of $16.2MM over 6 yrs is $10.8MM. ($1.8/yr). Plus he'd be off the books in 3yrs instead of 6 !!

Seeing how he's out of games for "bumps and bruises" and the vague "illness" I get the impression he just doesn't want to be here anymore in spite what he says about loving the city and team.
