How many goals has Detroit let in over their last 8 games? Can you even count that high?

The only thing I am bitter about is that the Oilers could not finish this off in regulation, and the Habs got a loser point.

Overall, was a good game by the team.

Yup. Habs have been playing well without getting many wins. Lots of OT losses these days even against very good teams.

They are getting there, they just need 1-2 more players that can help up front to take the next step.

Oh and big fan of Guhle yesterday, did a great job against McDavid and even scored a goal.

Good stuff as always, Karine.

The boys had pretty much every excuse to mail in a sub par performance last night. Instead, down 2-0 to start the 3rd despite pretty much controlling the game, they came back in the 3rd with a dominant period to send it to OT. I personally think that there should be an exception for an errant stick due to contact with another player, just like there's the exception for a follow-through. If Kane and Armia hasn't collided, the stick never would have really been up to start with. It obeys the letter of the law, but not the spirit for which the rule exists. (Violent or irresponsible handling of the stick.) They deserved better.

The interesting thing to note, where would the Habs be if they had a (healthy) second line and a decent top 6? Not saying they would be in the playoffs, but some of those games would not have gotten to OT.

I really like Dach and how he could solidify that 2nd line, but I am worried he will be one of those players that is always injured....

Celibrini would push him to the wing, Lindstrom could also if he reaches his potential as a center but he could also play wing. I don't want them to put all their eggs in the Dach basket at center, too high of a risk with his injury history.

if not Celibrini or Lindstrom, not sure who else they would pick, most likely a winger like Demidov, Eiserman or Iginla.

My wishlist, in order:

Celibrini (duh)
Lindstrom
Iginla
Demidov
Eiserman

This could change when the draft comes but so far that's what I'm feeling.

Except for Celibrini though, doubt any of them play in the NHL next year.

Habs need to get 2 top 6 forwards this summer, via draft of trades. Whether Dach plays as center or wing will depend on who is available.

I also wonder if the Habs will opt for 1 top 6 forward and use Newhook as the 3rd member of the 2nd line, and draft the best player available knowing he might not be ready to play in the NHL next year.

Draft position and what players may be available will decide it all... cannot wait to see what happens in those 2 weeks around the draft / FA.

Yeah...I like the word collided here. It was plain interference on the Oilers' part, Kane was looking to block Armia's way the whole time. It's the reason the high stick happened.

They need to stop stacking loser points for this to happen. Anyway, the year to tank was last season.

Newhook needs to go back to the wing. Doesn't seem able to use that speed of his while playing centre.

I heard Mathias Brunet say that Celebrini is Logan Cooley with a good two way game. I'd take that.

Sometimes he's good. I just think he's a classic prospect over-hyper like Pierre McGuire, but also, there's not much to speak about recently if you covering the habs. At one point you can only analyse Armia's and Pearson's gameplay so much.

I like his new podcast with Simon Boisvert.

It gives a unique perspective on some prospects that are sometimes highly touted. Also enjoy the fact that they own their mistakes in evaluating past players, something you rarely see from "experts".

He loves himself and his opinion a little too much but I'm willing to get past that since I enjoy hearing different things than the consensus idea about prospects.

Totally get why you don't like him and why he got fired in the Q though.
