Nice win last night, I wish I had the chance to flame some NHL commentators after it.

Especially on Sirus NHL radio, all you hear is how messed up Columbus is, and they are the worst team in the NHL, yada, yada, yada. They are wrong.

If you look at their wins and losses you see a ton of 1 goal losses, not as many as Montreal, but a lot of them. You also see a team that has beaten some top teams this season, like Colorado last night. but then they beat Colorado with a half AHL roster.

Look, the team has had a horrible year, and it started last summer when they hired the wrong coach after the team's leadership got misled about who they were hiring. One may argue that the current HC was the wrong hire, but who else could they get?

With a new GM, probably a new head coach, a couple player moves and a year of development for some players (including a lot of angry players) this is going to be a much better team. The big question to answer is 'who is in the net?' solve that and this team is close to a playoff team IMO.

My initial reaction to Monday's win was "WTF - how does this happen ?"" But it did.
Like you said - with half the forward lines from the AHL. Get this team whole again and they can move the needle next season.

The goalie issue appears to be coming into focus. Since February Tarasov has been steadily improving up to his .973 SV% Monday night. Elvis has been "meh" at best with 3 straight games giving up 6 goals. I think Elvis will have a new home this summer.

I pray Alex Nylander takes this momentum into the next season .
