I'm looking at cutting the cable cord... but waiting to see if the Wings make the playoffs first since I have Comcast with BSD. I'm hoping Amazon buys the rights to Bally Sports Detroit since I'm already a Prime subscriber. I'm not a fan of all the different streaming services and all the dumb apps that go with it. Cable is so much easier to deal with... but Comcast is pricing itself out of my budget. They keep raising prices due to the them claiming it's because of "broadcast fees" and have to pass them on to us the customers. We'll see where things end up. The broadcast options to watch the Wings next season is a big rudderless mess right now.

It stinks. From what I hear back from fans streaming has not been the most popular option. Some are doing VPNs or using hub websites and doing well. It still feels like the league isn’t adding younger viewership at even replacement rate. As it all winds down it’s honestly sad. A shift in broadcast partners that looked to more than double TV revenues turned into a bad deal.

I know this isn’t a Wings affiliate, but it is painful to see an ECHL club close its doors. https://www.prohockeyrumo...ers-cease-operations.html

These teams are not just part of the journey for some players, but they mean a lot to the area they are in as well. For anyone who wonders why I keep digging for answers on finances, broadcasts, things that some just don’t care about, those are thermometers. If the top tier of the sport is having struggles, those are magnified down the line.

An affiliate of the Leafs, and the richest NHL franchise will not help them! TML must have a less costly plan B in mind.

That’s really sad. We did see the Toronto area (TSN) make massive cuts after last season including cancelling Leaf’s Lunch. To be fair, I think the Ranger’s ownership group has more cash in the reserves but that includes a lot of peripheral. Those two along with Montreal have traditionally had strong reserves. I think moving the All Star Game, the change in the draft and a few other issues are signaling that there are still some debt issues. In about 2 hours I’ll be on the call where ESPN should lay out their plan in a little more detail
