Ben Shelley: Isles closing in on playoff berth, but Dobson injury a reason for concern

Good chippy plays right in the Isles hands. Let the Rangers concentrate on revenge. The Islanders should just concentrate on the task at hand.

Haven’t posted about the Zib thing. I didn’t think it was anything malicious. The Trocheck hit was a bit irritating but it probably wouldn’t have mattered (getting a PP). If there is any “revenge” I think that’s the hit they would, but if Dobson is out, it’s moot. Rempe will dress so we’ll see what happens.

Rangers need to get their game in order and not look to start anything tho. They’re having trouble scoring

Ok, according to Rosner, it’s not a concussion, Dobson’s wrist might have been accidentally slashed by Romanov. There’s a still shot of it, doesn’t look like much there. Bad enough to keep him out of an important game. Hopefully just a bone bruise or something.

Clearly not having Dober in the lineup weakens the offense dramatically. However, the team needs to focus on getting two points. In a way I am glad he is not in the lineup as he would be a target all game.

I am still trying to understand for what exactly? An obvious accidental hit or a missed roughing penalty resulting in no injury with 7 seconds left? Absolutely hysterical the level of whining that’s happened after that game. Ranger fans should be embarrassed for themselves. I can only imagine how much whining will occur during the playoffs when the refs put their whistles away.

It wasn't even roughing. It was a cross-check on Trocheck, the kind of cross-check that often gets ignored by the refs, unless it is repeated. Trocheck went down like he got hit by a cannon shot, of course, hoping to draw a penalty. Maybe the Isles should be calling for revenge for Trocheck's embellishment?

I suppose, because the cross-check occurred near the boards, maybe it should have been a 2-minute boarding penalty? Like you said, there are missed penalties all the time. It's nothing to get worked up over, let alone demanding revenge.

Thanks to playing crappy against the Flyers, the Rangers now have something to play for. The Canes are only a point behind for first place in the Metro. So if Rempe starts running around, getting penalized, it doesn't really help the Rangers' cause. The team has plenty of talent and should stay focused on the task at hand; i.e., defeating the Islanders and winning the Metro.........and maybe even the President's Trophy.

It's the Rangers, if the team and the fans did not have something to cry about or use as an excuse it would not be Rangers hockey.

I honestly could give two poops in Rempe is in the lineup not. If the rags want to limit themselves to three lines so be it.

It was a boarding penalty. Not denying it. Would it have made a difference in the game if it were called? Who knows. As rags fans and the team, you should be big enough to move on and look forward to the playoffs. Are we crying over the slew foot on Palms??? No... It happened, no call move on...

I think it's odd that a lot of people (not you) define that whole game by those two incidents. One was a mistake and the other a missed call. It happens every game.

As far as Rempe, I hope you guys dress him every game.

I don't think it was Dobson the Rags would be going after anyway. If Lavy and the team truly believe it was a vicious intentional hit, it's Pelech they will go after.

I think they would both have targets on their backs. What I find compelling is that when you listen to the ranger broadcaster even they say that the hit will mika and pelech was accidental. Its all a ploy to fire up the team.
