Thanks Jeremy for all your posts. I hope you feel better soon. Watching this Red Wings team this year sure has given us Red Wings fans so many emotions throughout the year. This season has had many ups and downs, but I love that they are battling to the end. They definitely need to improve more to be a real contender but hopefully Stevie Y can make a few changes this off-season plus the upcoming prospects can finally get us there next season. I enjoy all your blogs. You are by far the best blogger on this site. |

Detroit needs to win both games with Montreal and the Caps and Pens need to lose one of their 2 and the Wings are in. If Detroit ties in pts with either of those 2, they have the tie-breakers.......
There are other scenarios, but that is the simplest winning formula.
There is a 67% chance Detroit gets in. 2nd best odds with the Isles having a 97% chance. The other 3 teams all have less than 40% chance. |

Wrong. Detroit loses any tiebreaker with Washington, Pittsburgh, and Philly. Not sure where you see a 67% chance to make it. Vegas oddsmakers are 26%. |

Gotta take in the whole statement not just one sentence, Context is everything.

The context from a 67% chance of making the playoffs suggests the other interpretation ( ie that Detroit won the tiebreaker). Your statement was unclear and your percentages are totally incorrect. |

Whoa, thank you so much for that! It’s an honor to be able to do this even when the heat is up in the kitchen! I am grateful to see Wings fans excited and passionate. It hit me last week that even when it’s a negative response it means people are engaged. There was an apathy that had set in and it feels like people are hungry to see the team play in the post season. It’s very cool! |

I am really hoping that Detroit doesn’t see a Montreal 9 goal explosion. It’s not fun to need other teams to lose to move forward. The last stretch cost Detroit the ability to be in full control. They have to win, but they need other teams to fall off. |

What a game. Especially vs a top-heavy team like Tronno. Awesome 1st period, which shows what many here have said for quite a while: gotta hit the gas coming out if the gate.....but we didn't sustain the pressure and blew it in the 2d. Great battling. Not giving up is something we've missed over the past several years, it seems. Good to see the kids keep at it, BUT.....
Listen, we all know we're not built for a sustaine deep run. We know the gaps that require attention. There's some talent in the prospect pool, for sure. How are they going to play & contribute once they hit the show? No one knows for sure. It's truly a crap shoot. Some of the moves made under The Captain have been head-scratcers for sure. Some have been great. Drafting is a gamble. When Nill left, many of the scouts we had went as well. Some of the folks who founf Pav, Z, The Perfect Human..... People with that acumen are incredibly rare, and immensely hard to replace. We don't have the scouting talent we had in the past. It is what it is. It's coaching that gets the most out of a player, along with the determination of the player himself. We, honestly, don't have a Cup Winning set of coaches, can't manage a team D scheme, cannot inplement adjustments in-game, cannot get our goalies to hone their skills, etc... Also, we don't have a robust roster that's capable of making those monumental changes in the abilities. There are some oddities; Rayzor's explided this season and upped his fore-check, Veleno's imprived his speed & physicality, etc...
This lacks a comprehensive D scheme, which was laid bare for all to see last night. IF WE MAKE IT, I'll be happy. We've come a LONG way, but there's a LONGER way to go. This season's been an awesome one for fans; anger, frustration, elation, excitement, anticipation.....this season's had it all. Hopefully we continue. The team's not going to be SCF-capable for a few years. There is no "super star" player, yet. We have some guys with talent & determination along with some seriously developing talent.
We've not been here in manyyears. Enjoy the ride, express your observations, ride the Red Wave!! This IS a good team with a smart, engaged fan-base. From my seat, JEREMY brings that all into some savvy reflectiins and shows his fanatisism (did I spell that correctl???) every post. It's a great time to be a FAN!!! 2 games left & still in the hunt. One HELL of a season!!!!! |

Gotta tighten up and play oppresively hard hockey. These games show what we have, where we might be able to go, and the gaps needing to be filled to get there.
Would expect Lyon in net for tomorrow, maybe Tuesday?? We REALLY need a solid G to bridge the gap to Cossa/Augy and beyond.
These games will be epic! |

I’m wondering how serious Husso’s setback was. It was enough to pull him last minute. I asked one of the “beat” reporters and the only thing being said is setback. If this ends up being a sports hernia issue that could mean a surgery with a lengthy recovery. I don’t think there’s a reason not to play Lyon in both games but we’ll see. Cossa had a nice turn around in GR (the whole team did) it will be interesting to see him at camp. You’re dead right about tightening up. The neutral zone has been good and bad for Detroit. Raymond is intercepting some passes, but too many stretch passes from the D zone end up as unforced turnovers. |

Hi Jeremy,
I hope you are feeling better. Yes, the Red Wings put their fans on a roller coaster this season. I thought when Toronto tied it up in the second period, the third period would be a Toronto blowout. Glad I was wrong. |

Well whoever approved that graphic (I never saw it) doesn't know what they are doing. Imagine that, another example of a mere fan knowing more than some "expert". But even if you saw that graphic, does that really pass the smell test? We're tied with teams that dominate us in any tiebreaker. So how would that translate to a 67% chance to make it?

If the Wings don't make the playoffs... it will be interesting to see what they do with Edvinsson. My best guess is that he will get sent back to Grand Rapids and play with the Griffins since it would give him some playoff experience. I think he's got a pretty high ceiling considering how well he's played in Detroit and he's only 21. It would be be nice if he could turn into an elite defenseman. Out of all the prospects (if you still consider him one) I'd say him and Danielson have the highest ceiling. I still think Danielson has the potential to be elite if his development continues the way we hope it will... we'll see how it goes with both of these guys. Griffins have the talent to make a deep run this year if they avoid the injury bug. |

I can’t remember the rule. At one point players had to be reassigned to the AHL club by a certain date to qualify for finals. (Paper transaction stuff). Is Eddy all clear? Watching his comfort level come up in the NHL (man he skates smoothly for 6’6”) that would be a nice boost for Grand Rapids. |

Just take the 2pts (No OT allowed), no injuries and be nice to Hutson who will play his first NHL game in his home state. |
