Ristolainen is expected to make a complete recovery over the next three months and to be ready for training camp.

Big sigh of relief here. Great to know the Flyers will get their best defenseman back next season.

During the season, there were conflicting indications about exactly what Ristolainen was dealing with, and when. There may have other issues -- or perhaps other physical symptoms -- apart from the triceps tendon tear. Hopefully, there will be more clarity after the GM speaks.

Ristolainen is expected to make a complete recovery over the next three months and to be ready for training camp.

The mystery and contradictory information surrounding Risto was ridiculous and I don't think any explanation is going to make the Flyers sound competent.

Whether it's Risto or Coots or Atkinson or Ellis. They all start day to day and end up in a big void for months.

One thing you didn't address in your exit interview piece is Drysdale. Drysdale said he wasn't 100% healthy when the Flyers brought him in or pretty much all year. Did DB know about this and ignore it when he traded for him? Drysdale also indicated he might get a procedure done on his chronically injured shoulder. What does DB know about that and could that potentially keep Drysdale out of the first part of the year?

https://thehockeynews.com...about-their-health-status

he admitted when he first got traded to Philadelphia that he would be monitoring his health, and implied that he wasn't at 100% full fitness when he arrived at January. When asked if he would have a procedure over the summer because of the persistent shoulder problems, he simply stated, "Potentially."

He wasn't as bad as previous years but that was the lowest of the low bars to clear. But hey, he's big and a right hand shot. Being able to play good defense would just be a bonus.

It would also be nice to know if analytics factors into anything they do on the ice.

Flyers are neither bold like Vegas or patient like the other contenders.

Hilarious that Jonesy keeps naming Vegas as the team to emulate.

Danny Briere quickly becoming known as the GM you can pawn off your injured players. I guess he learned something from Fletcher.....

It's sad that even with Shaw and Torts ripping him down and building him back up he still only manages to be mediocre defensively with that skillset. And the rest of his game is a complete toss.

When the Flyers finally do make he POs they can activate Drysdale, Risto, and Ellis off LTIR to be our Mark Stones. Unstoppable.

His injury history is getting to be a huge red flag. He's played 42 games with only 10 points over the last 2 seasons with multiple lengthy absences due to injuries to the same shoulder. The same shoulder which now might need a procedure this offseason.

Going into next year, his last healthy season will be 3 years ago.

You have to think if Briere hadn't had playoff fever that they hold onto Cutter until the offseason. The Ducks were laughing all the way to the bank with this one.

It was reported that Torts was heavily involved in scouting and picking Drysdale as the player to target, so there's blame to go around.

Torts also signed off on ND and TDA so i am not surprised. The entire front office (which includes Torts) all have their fingers in the player acquisition pie.

The quote from Torts where he admitted that TDA, after exiling him to the Flyers version of Siberia, was much worse defensively than he thought was priceless.

that really shocks me a lot. not like he had a track record prolonged solid nhl play.

As was former GM Murray who drafted him I think. who now works for the flyers lol.

He isn't rooting against him. I'm rooting against him. This turd is rooting for him and I don't feel like being civil cause the obsession with this guy is gonna be off the charts that want to see this blow up in the Flyers' face. I'll be outta here in a few minutes cause some of us actually have better things to do then come to a site and whine about a team that they don't even like.
