Pesce, Roy, Walker, Myers, DeMelo, Zadorov and A. Carrier should have consideration in FA.
A trade for a RD might be forthcoming, Berggen and a pick could real in someone like Adam Larsson (maybe a pipe dream), or the like. If the Oil snags a good RD, the Wings could get a guy like Codi Ceci for a 3rd. I would expect the Wings might get someone else's left overs on the cheap.
If Kane is not signed maybe the Wings could make RD the priority and have the money for a Pesce or dare I say Montour?!?!!? And then fill the F spots with the kids.

If Larsson or Pesce were available I’d give a kidney.

Phone a friend for slightly overpaid but missing from Detroit skill set; at 5.2MAAV I’d go pluck up former King and current Bolt Erik Cernak.

Montour might be too pricey to justify paying as a 2nd Pair guy behind Seider. Gotta get the Seider and Raymond deals done as anything spent in UFA Markets effectively drives their price up further. Imagine Seider comes in under Makar’s number but above Sanderson’s. Gotta think Raymond is looking at an aav starting with an 8 though I could see GMSY leaning heavily into the Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens comps to drive it back down.

I think that’s something they’d have to consider. The D core drop off is so bad. I was happy to see Edvinsson get some real time, but how many guys can help him in real time? I get some grief for it, but I think Goal tending takes the longest and Defense the second longest to get into understanding the position night in and night out. Lidstrom said somewhere around 200 games for D. That may be why Seider has been a nice surprise along the way. He hasn’t had massive struggles. But looking at the D and having no issue if 3-4 guys move on isn’t a great feeling. I really wish Lidstrom would swap the tie for a whistle. His hockey IQ is outstanding. It feels like he could do a lot behind the bench.

Every goal past 20 felt like a raise for Raymond. Especially when he’s picking off pucks in the neutral zone and creating a play. I’m not sure i gave Pav enough credit (and I gave him a ton, still do). Being able to turn the momentum with a take away or finding a passing lane can lead to big moments. What I think will happen is a “we think the cap is going to be “X” in 3-5 years. If you can meet us here, etc. unfortunately, these careers can end in a second. With what Hronek is looking to possibly get, the market may be all over the place this year. Glad it’s not my job to be the “capologist”

Just reading that RD Connor Murphy could be available, Rugged physical guy with almost zero offence. He has 2 more years at $4.4M. I don't think he is a 2nd pair guy unless paired with a good offensive LD. I don't know enough about him, but wonder if he is worth his pay, or if the Hawk over-paid him to keep him happy and to make the lower limit on the salary cap.

I think i heard Yzerman say that ASP likely will spend another year in Sweden although he said he hadn't talked to him about it. If so that probably means he is another 2 years away from the NHL so they need to find someone that can play top 4 and be solid for 2 or 3 years at least.

Last thing i want is another Petry or Holl on this team that doesn't do anything well so no Dumba.

Need someone that is good defensively and physical or at least a good two way RHD that can play some physical game that isn't a shrimp.

Keep an eye on Dumba w/Tampa. AZ was a soul sucking place for too many players. But, as it stands, Holl and Petry (at least one) need to be moved. I don’t know if Tuomisto is going to get a look but a couple pieces have come out regarding his play. I’m hoping ASP gets to GR sooner rather than later. That shift in speed/space changes players in terms of how much time they have. The more time the better

There was an interesting conference with Tyler Johnson. A “this wasn’t what I’d hoped it would be” type comment. Chicago may be looking at some changes. I like Murphy, and that skill set may pair well with Eddy. Cap space is king this year. Colorado looks like they may be adding back a sizeable chunk for the playoffs…

Yzerman did mention that forward Jonatan Berggren and defenseman Albert Johansson are already on the short-list to make the roster out of training camp for the 2024-25 NHL season.
If Johansson sticks, then Chiarot goes to the RS with Ghost (if signed). Holl is gone and Petry is the 7th D and WHAT'S A MAATTA with this? Not loving it.......

Tyler Johnson wore out his welcome in Chicago years ago. Oft injured and overpaid, he's an UFA this summer and won't be back in Chicago. Yes GM Davidson said it's time for improvements to the team. Sounds as if he'll add 2-4 decent players. As for Murphy, you can have him for a good forward prospect in your system. Hawks have had and will have plenty of picks. It's time for them to start adding bodies.

While I'm here, any interest in Seth Jones? He's expressed some frustration too with the Chicago situation. He would have to waive his NMC. He's overpaid at 9.5M, but maybe Chicago retains 2-3M.

I love Seth Jones, but with Seider’s raise you could end up with a situation like San Jose had on the blue line in terms of $. Murphy is now saying he was hurt most of the year and looks to get healthy. Sounds like it’s groin related again

Murphy at his cap hit is great value if healthy. Though groin issues rarely stay fixed. Seth Jones is RHD Dar Nurse in that it’s an unmovable contract imo. Add in that he’s been less than awesome with Bedard and it only adds to the “wtf are you thinking?,” factor, lol.
At this point, with the Stammer deal up, ya may be able tto pry away Sergachev instead of Cernak in TBL, though I feel like sneaky smart money would be in on stealing Simashev out from under Utah’s nose for a handful of prospects. Even if it means Berggren+Johansson+Cossa+Husso with 50% retained. Though for that cost, could you call Goaltenderless LA and walk out with an Edvinsson decade long pair partner in Brandt Clarke+an oft injured yet super high upside play in C Adam Turcotte…?
